I ran a pair of group 27 "Marine Deep Cycle" batteries using a manual battery switch. 1, 2, , BOTH and OFF. Battery one was the engine battery, 2 for all the 12V loads (power anchor windlass on the Chriscraft).This is my setup. Once under way after using Batt 2 I switch to BOTH to give Batt 2 a charge.

so just how un optimal is battery life of Deka's AGM if charge with a smart charger set to their recommendation without temp comp? precision please!
