Honda 3000 Questions

Hello. I am new here and have my first post. I got a 2005 Laredo 5th wheel. The sticker by the power cord says 30 ampres. My plug has two slanted blades and a rounded extension which I figure is the ground.

Today I got a free Honda EU3000is from a guy cleaning out a closed up RadioShack. He said that it would run my RV as long as I did not use the air conditioner and microwave at the same time.

Don't know if that is right but thought its free, might as well take it.

I guess the EU3000 means it is from Europe and makes 3000 watts? Will this run my rig in the USA without problems?

I was going to try and add a picture from my Android tablet but haven't figured it out yet.

Look here for the full serial number:

Should start with "EZGF-1234567" If you'll drop me a private message with full serial number, I can get you some history on this unit, and let you know if any of the factory warranty is still active. Include your mailing address, so I can update the Honda records showing you as the the current owner. Honda asks for this in the unlikely event there is ever a product safety recall and needs to contact you.

Sounds like I got a real good thing on my hands here. I checked out the link to buy the adapter after I already got one on amazon. This is what I got.

This should work as best as I can tell. Anyone disagree?

Too funny ๐Ÿ˜„ ... you've just won the lottery and don't even know it! Your Honda EU3000iS is arguably the best in class genset one could get, certainly the quietest. Good grief, this guy just GAVE it to you?! Wow! CONGRATS!

Go to a honda supply house and buy a 30 amp adapter for an RV outlet.

It all looks good!

The "30A" embossed on the receptacle tells you it is a "30 amp, 120 volt twistlock" receptacle. Note that it has THREE holes for prongs. FYI, the "30 amp 120/240 volt twistlock" receptacle has FOUR holes. As said, you will need an adapter to go from 30 amp 120 twistlock (three prongs) to your "TT 30" plug that you pictured in your hand, often called a "30 amp RV plug".

The 23.3A printed above the receptacle tells you that the Honda has a 23.3 amp breaker on that receptacle. So even though the receptacle is made to handle 30 amps, the Honda will only send 23.3 amps through there before shutting down. This is all normal.

It's worth saying that there are plenty of people who will pay $1,000 for that generator, used.

Wow. A free Honda 3k. When the person who gave it to you figures out what it's worth he might not be too happy with himself. Hope it works.

This is great info everyone. And thanks for the link to the user guide. Can't open it correctly on my droid tablet but I will check it from Microsoft tomorrow.

Yes I will need some type of adapter. I attached 2 pics of what I have. The locking plug-in spot says 23.3A above the plug and stamped in the plastic of the plug itself is a 30A and the sticker on the rig says 30 amps.

Does this Honda make 30A or 23.3A? Maybe a wrong label?

Here is my cord atthe business end.

Here is my generator plug-in area. 23.3A on the labeland 30Astamped on the plastic of the plug if you zoom in.

Congrats, Ray, those generators cost almost $2,000.00 new and are considered among the best anywhere.

The plug for your rig sounds like a 30 amp RV plug. Be sure that you don't plug into any outlets that ALMOST fit, because there is a 240 volt 30 amp outlet that will fit if you force it, and it will fry everything in your trailer. This is not a concern at campgrounds, but if you hire an electrician to put in a plug at your house, they may not know the difference.

Your Honda 3000 puts out 2600 watts on a steady basis and 3000 watts during momentary "surges". Your cord and the main breaker in your trailer can handle up to 3600 watts on a steady basis. As said, the A/C is the biggest load (and a microwave if you have one). The A/C will likely need ALL your 3600 watts when it starts up on a hot day, but only about half that when it runs. This means that your Honda will probably be overloaded because of the first moment's surge of power required. This is a frustration we all deal with.

If you're made of money you can buy a second Honda and connect them together and you'll never run out of power. Have fun!!

I don't think it has anything to do with Europe but I have been wrong before! He is right about what you can run and it is a great genny. Very quiet and dependable. I have been using mine sense 2005 with no problems. Love it.

It will work very well for your RV. As he said, you dont want to run 2 heavy draw items at the same time. It probably has a twist lock plug design and you will need an adapter to connect it to your 30 amp RV cord.

I mounted my 3000 in the truck bed with a fan powered ventilated metal locking cover. It also has a remote start kit. When I run it a short time I dont worry about opening my cover lid. When I'm running it for longer times or when it's real warm out I will open the cover. Nice of him to give you the sweetest, quietest $2,000 generator on the market.

No, it's not from the EU, that's just a model designation. ๐Ÿ™‚
You got yourself a great gen there. It will run your air and maybe even you micro at the same time (if you have to).
