Honda Has a Question for EU2000i Owners

Given nothing else changed, including price, please evaluate this question and let me know your answer; include any relative comments, thoughts, opinions, etc. The Honda Design Engineering Team is currently living and working in a 5-wheel RV at the Reno Air Race event, and is collecting data, interviews, etc. from other RV folks. The team asked me to expand the data for this specific question, so let's hear it; post your answer to the thread or send to me via PM

Wrong questions. Sure, add a bit more power, but more importantly, make it more theft proof.

Everyone has a great opinion on this. I have owned two EU 2000i generators for over a decade each, and would not consider upgrading them until they finally wear out. Since they run like new now, that is out of the question for the time-being.

If the generator would put out enough power to spin up my 15,000 BTU AC at higher altitudes (6000 ft)then run it, I would answer more power. Somehow I doubt that would be enough at 2200. Perhaps 2400 would, but I don't know that answer.

My feeling is this. Going to a 2200 is not enough of an increase to warrant a change. It would just be a sales ploy, and the 2000 will run everything already except my AC. My other concern with going to either a 2200, or even a 2400, would be how it would affect weight and durability. Also, I suspect that if it couldn't run my AC alone it would also not be able to run in parallel with one of my existing EU2000i generators, forcing me to buy two more expensive and probably heavier generators to do what my current ones already do well.

A long way around saying; without finding a safe and reliable way to solve those issues the only reasonable answer is to make it quieter, without power loss and make a retrofit kit to make our current generators quieter also. Also, quieter at high speed would be cool too.

I would go for this. Just purchased two with one being the companion and do notice the voltage drops considerably when high loads kick in. Great machines!

I have a new eu2000i that puts out 128.2V, a 3 year old eu2000i that puts out 122.1v and an 11 year old EU1000i that puts out 118.7V More power in the form of voltage means less voltage drop under load, and less amps required. Voltage always drops under heavier amperage load, so keep the voltage up, within reason.

I vote for B quieter. The extra 200 watts will probably not make any difference between using just one generator or two together. Primarily, two generators are needed to start/run an air conditioner along with other electric loads. At elevations especially, the extra 200 watts will not keep from using a second generator, so the extra quiet will be welcomed and more practical.

However, from a marketing standpoint, especially with the less informed consumer, the extra wattage may have more attraction.

Option A, more power for my microwave ......1/4 throttle noise level is fine.....also look at reducing overall height of moulded case by 2," perhaps fold down handle?

Thanks for the note about the oil change kit. Just ordered one. We'll see how it works next year.
