Well, I guess you can still run out, but you'd know about it ahead of time! ๐Ÿ˜‰

P.S. My 20-25 year old Weber BBQ grill on the deck has a weight scale contents gage on it. Ultra reliable too - no batteries or electronics involved. The gage mechancism is a steel fail-proof mechanism.

This is nothing more then a digital scale. I've had Weber grills for many decades... my current Weber is enclosed under the grill with a spring scale available there to hang the cylinder on. The problem is I am no longer strong enough to lift the bottle to hook it on the spring scale. This little gadget is perfect for my application.

I suspect it is not of use in an RV due to the need to restrain the cylinder to prevent motion.

The gadget scale does "alarm" if the bottle gets low... I don't get the need to send a alarm to a phone or iPad by B/T??? I mean the beep should be adequate. lol

IMHO, the ultimate propane level indicator in accuracy and dependability, year after year, for RVs would be the tanks that are made out of spun fiberglass so that you can just look at the tank to see the liquid level shadow right through the fiberglass.

I've seen spun fiberglass 5 gallon BBQ propane tanks that one can visually see the liquid level in. But does anyone know if the large built-in propane tanks on RVs can be bought in the spun fiberglass type?

A lot of those see-through tanks were recalled for safety reasons.

I'm an IT person... and with things like this (Internet of Things) devices, I just shy away from them. Just give me a good old fashioned scale (analog or digital.)

My grandson loves the stuff that works through his phone: lights, television, his car, etc. Pretty crazy IMO but I guess it does no harm. He'd love this if it would work through his phone. Guess I'll wait for them to update the device.

I received my order today. Took five minutes to get it up and running. My 20# propane cylinder is under my Weber Grill. This is absolutely perfect for my needs!

It does have audible low level alarms... guess the next generation B/T connection to your smart phone would alert you if you were in the head close to the grill. :R

Are you kidding ??? I have a gauge inside, and a gauge outside, and I still run out.

Great -- was looking for at least ONE more thing to ding my phone, as if we don't get enough already. And, one more piece of technology to fail.

We can easily shake it, OR, get a gauge ... we have two tanks, and a gauge. ๐Ÿ™‚

I use a bathroom scale. Pain in the butt to disconnect and weigh before each trip, but works.

As the article says, "This product already exists, though the newest model thatโ€™s getting ready to hit Indiegogo adds an integrated smartphone app that connects you to your tank by way of a Bluetooth connection."

As the article says, the existing one does not have the B/T interface... and that's the one I ordered. The existing one.

It shows on the local display, but no app. I was interested in that for my grandson, he loves stuff that he can do with his phone, perfect for his smoker and BBQ.

If you find the app, please let me know. TIA.

Good luck finding the scale shown in the article. It doesn't seem to exist, and inquiries to the company are not answered.

I just ordered my from amazon.com - same price as the manufacturer's www site.

My gas grill has the scale. I'm not sure when it quit working, but several years ago. Like others, I have two tanks, and don't run out.
