18 days to launch on a 7000 mile trip. This weekend we:
Cleaned and waxed the exterior.
Libricated every lock and moving part inc. WDH
Cleaned and organized every closet, drawer, and storage space.
Cleaned and polished the whole interior.
All fresh linens and towels.
Replaced the batteries in all the remotes, flashlights, lanterns and gizmos.
Washed all the plates, silverware, pots, pans, etc...
Checked every working system.
Checked air in all 5 tires

The TV:
Oil change/checked tire pressure and all fluids.
Detailed it inside and out.
Built bike rack for inside the van.
Well it's new so there isn't much else.

Besides food and packing clothes... What's left? What are we missing?

I would remind you to bring your sense of adventure and check out those interesting places that you would have never stopped at before. I think after reading many of your posts, the journey is the destination. Also, don't forget your sense of humor to patch over those bumps that you will encounter along the road.

Safe travels!

If you have never changed a tire on your tow vehicle before you should dig out the owners manual and read it for how to do it. Better to learn now rather than when you are setting along the road. Do you have a jack and know how to Jack up the trailer and change a tire ?

:h:h:h Dude! Dude? What??? Huh? 🙂 Did you read my signature or my profile? I've been doing this since wheels were made of wood and six horse power was all you needed to tow a covered wagon cross country!!! Have I ever changed a tire? Do I have a jack? Do I know how to jack up the trailer? What the???

There has been some excellent advice in this thread but what were you thinking? :@

Just messin with ya! Thanks for playing! :B

I like to keep some spare fuses with us for the truck and trailer. On rare occasion when one may pop, it can be frustrating to find a replacement when the auto parts stores are closed or far away.
I also carry a torque wrench with a long extension and 13/16" socket just for the trailer wheel lug nuts. Just two of my comfort items.

Got it all but what's a recovery strap? I don't know if I got one cause I don't know what it is. Thanks.

Some call it a snatch strap, it's a strap used to pull or be pulled out of a sticky situation.
Many places we go are atv parks and when it rains they turn into mud fields.

Lots of good advice here.

Not sure if you have a USB charger in your rig or in the truck, but we sure find it a lot handier than using the full charger on 120 inverted.

a hidden safe place for 100 dollar cash.. small bills.

1 in Tow vehicle.
1 in trailer.

and add to each.. a second (different account) credit card..
as if/when card is stolen/lost... it will be useless...
even if second card has a 1,000 limit.. good till replacement is available.

Maybe I missed it but the trailer wheel bearings need to be in good shape.
Enjoy the trip.

You need to make sure your spare TV tire cranks down and is not frozen in place. You need a spare TT tire and the tools to change it, including a torque wrench.

You need to know and practice changing both if you have not done it before.

Both of these are the difference between a 20 minute delay and sitting on the roadside waiting for assitance.

If you can buy it at Wal-mart it is only the next big town away.
