At 15 yrs old and only 69,000 miles I figure there is alot of life left in my "very good" condition 2002 2500HD LT.The driver's side leather seat is still in tack. And no accidents. The trade in value is only $9,500. I bought it new and I hope to get another 60,000 miles out of it. But with time against me I wonder if parts are going to be a real problem. Is anyone with 10, 15, or 20 yr old chevy trucks having difficulty obtaining parts or are there plenty of after market suppliers out there? I checked on new trucks with same features my 2002 has and at 76 I can't afford to buy a $66,000 truck. All opinions accepted.

LOL, the "Goose Steppers" from "The State of California Vehicle Retirement Program" might show up at his door!

Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

I bought one new in 2002 with the 6.0, and it is still going strong with 211,000 miles. I've had to do some things like a new A/C compressor, starter, front wheel bearings, but over that period of time, it has been a great truck.

Ditto here, as keep my vehicles a loooooong time

Hope the OEM's keep using corporate parts bin mentality to keep the parts in volume and current era vehicles

Why I'll not buy specialty TV's. Cars a maybe if I'm in love with it, but that is rare for me

xcab, short bed, low miles 4x4 with 8.1 and with the best looking front end from that era (01 and 02 only) - that's my dream truck, maybe crew cab

It should be good for another 10-20 years if no snow around.

Keep it, parts are available everywhere, the market is just too big for those trucks for the companies not to explore it.
There is a special site for C/K 88-98 trucks where you can get anything, your 02 is fairly new ๐Ÿ™‚ parts are about the same till 07-Classic model year.

You should be able to get anything you need. As said above, Rock Auto has just about everything. Amazon isn't bad either and often has the best prices.

I get all my parts at the Rock Auto Website. Prices are great and parts are quality, if you can wait a few days for shipping. I have no issues finding parts for either the 8.1 or the Suburban, it's only the small number of parts that are specific to an 8.1 Suburban. As my mechanic friend says, "They made about 3 of these."

I have replaced the driver's seat leather, I found a place in TX that does OEM.

Heck I have no problem getting parts for my 1947 Chevy deluxe cab 1/2 ton. :B

Parts no problem, I still get parts for my 69 C10 everywhere. Usually all auto part stores keep parts on hand for domestic trucks, There are plenty of those trucks still on the road, and used body parts are in most junkyards as well. Online is also very easy to find parts. So I would keep it, great truck, sought after engine that can pull anything. Sounds like you have a great paid for, low mile, great shape, rock solid, truck that will last for you without the over inflated price of a new one. Keep it!
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

I'm still getting parts for a 1987 chevy 3/4 ton with the 6.2 diesel. Auto zone, advance auto, and oreillys stock most parts for the chassis, but sometimes it takes them a day or two to get engine parts (like when I redid the head gasket). The things that have been difficult to get ahold of is electrical such as harnesses.

Around here there are a lot of your vintage of trucks running around, so you shouldn't have a problem getting parts for a long time.

You can easily get another 15 years out of that one.
