There is a post on Cumminsforum.com about a 2011 Ram that has racked up 1/2 million miles in less than 3 years. THAT is a lot of time behind the wheel.

Giving a 6 day work week for the entire month, this equates to 625 miles a day every day. Ain't gonna happen.....

Gross DOT violation!

sounds like he needs to switch to a 3.42; he'll definitely notice better towing.

Probably only 40,000 miles out of his tires too.

Good Lord! Someone who reports realistic numbers! What is the world coming to??

In my truck, I tow between 13,000 - 18,000 pounds. My speed over Eisenhower is about the same 40 MPH as reported above.

That said, I know every once in a while for some reason an engine is just stronger than normal. On my '03 with Smarty JR on "tow", I could run the same weight and passes at 50 MPH.

Care to share where the violation is? Just curious.

I agree about the brand loyalty. I am loyal to Ram/Cummins because I have had great results using both of the Ram/Cummins I have owned.

A relative keeps on buying Fords even tho he has had massive amounts of problems with the 6.0 and 6.4 trucks he has owned. He now has a 6.7 hope 3rd time is a charm for him.

BTW it is 55 at the slowest going up any pass from Mexico to Canada along I-5 at 28K combined. Let's
not exaggerate!

I do without any trouble.

I've read many of your claims. You certainly have different experiences with many things than I (or my friends with similar trucks) do.

Because I put on a lot of miles and most of it is freeway miles are in the North West where the weather is fairly modest. I also inflate my tires based on weight. Proper alignment also helps Factory usually has too much toe in so the rig will track straight.

Also thanks for not calling me a liar!

Look at the full time RVers most are Ram's. Because they are good for the long run.

If they are used by most full timers, hot shotters, heavy duty work, since the cummins B50 is 5 million miles, have tires that last 120,000 miles and tow 28,000 up the grapevine 65 mph; shouldn't they be the number one selling truck?

They ARE gaining market share.

So the bean counters at fleets and guvvermints are brand loyal?

I've owned 9 brands of car/4x4/pickup and thinking about a 10th one so I don't tend to think in those terms but it makes sense now.

Of course not.

Bean counters at fleets and governments....don't allow emotion to enter into the decision, unlike many consumers.

Bean counters look primarily at issuing vehicle specs manufacturers have to comply with and then it's simply a question which manufacturer will provide the spec'd out vehicles at the lowest price.

Next question.

Or because Dodge is dirt cheap both new and used?

Also I don't think my Ram's sticker price of 61K was cheap.
I think you have blinders on! Everywhere we go the Rams are out numbered by Fords and Chevys. They come in 3rd.

Not everywhere Ram pickups #2 seller

Wonder how the numbers would look if you drop fleet wholesale sales numbers off an look at individuals and small business customers who pay for trucks with their own money?

Nice read, thanks for the Ammo :W

That article fails to mention that in Canada the Ram HD is the #1 seller. They outsell Ford, GM, and Chevy. The EcoDiesel 1500 will sell like crazy here in Canada as well as it actually delivers on the migh mpg promise others fail to, and diesel fuel is cheaper than reg unleaded here most times through the year. LINK

We have all also seen the pickuptrucks.com sales figures where the RAM HD outsells GM (Chevy and GMC combined) in the 350/3500 category in the USA.
