I've been hearing stories about these two trucks having some sort of major problem with them. My best friend just bought one and it is a beautiful truck and runs like a scalded rabbit.

Anybody know what the so-called problem(s) is?

No major complaints on Gm-Trucks.com that I have read. Few issues here and there, but that happens with anything made, cars, trucks, electronics, etc.

As for the 5.3 being a little sluggish, possibly the tranny tuning, or maybe they have the 3.08 gears. While a different year, our '10-1500 5.3/6spd/3.42 would move when needed. Only complaint about that would be the nanny torque management at times! Possibly the same for the '14/15's.

WE bought the 2015 Dbl Cab Chevy 2500HD last year ... one minor tuning issue repaired under warranty at about 1000 miles. Got 15,000 on it now and the only thing we're done is the free oil changes. Runs great, hauls great, made one several months trip to the Rockies, never an issue.

I know, ain't a 1500, but still - GM built it, and we have no issues.

And, I've always believed the 1500 is underpowered for a truck ... cars are built for MPG, trucks are built to work. IMHO

LOL
Your 6.0 has 60hp less than the optional 6.2 1500 mill. Plus it weighs 1000lbs less. Compared to my 2012 6.2 1500, my 2013 2500 6.0 is anemic.

Not pointless at all. The replies so far have been positive ones pointing out that the twins are fine vehicles.

Never listen to these consumer magazines when it comes to trucks or sporty cars. They hate every thing that doesn t get 35 MPG. I won t rely on the opinions of some granola crunching hippy when it comes time to purchasing any vehicle.

That is exactly right, they don't understand a lot of things, but they really don't understand pickups and sports cars.

I like my truck-no problems at 26K miles. Biggest problem with diesels is the high pressure fuel pump made by Bosh. If it blows it is like grenade going off in your fuel system-sends metal everywhere. Ford also has this problem. GM is standing behind their trucks and fixing it. If you would have to pay the bill the estimate is $15,000.00 Good luck.
