I'd love to have one but my 6.2 does a good job.

Iโ€™d like to see the same test with the same trailer but a 6.7 truck instead, I think other than the downhill performance we now have a near diesel performance gas option.

VERY impressive for a gas engine! For folks disappointed with the paper ratings, this proves why a fat torque band, and tightly spaced transmission gearings, is far more important than a peak hp rating attained at 7000 rpm.

Even though 4.30s were used, I'm willing to bet a 3.73 would post identical times. With 10 gear ratios, it's as simple as dropping 1 gear, and you'll be right at the big 7.3's hp peak again.

Liked the 89 Iroc but loved the same year Transam GTA. Regardless both really cool rides.... mustang ran fast back then as well with the famous 5oh....I had a few Pontiacs running with both the 5 speed 5.0 TPI and the 5.7 auto... raced a lot of my buddies. Smoked a 944 Porsche with the 5.7. Kid was so butt hurt he sold it a few months later... anyway impressed with that hill run... the 7.3 sure did well. Now itโ€™s time for GM to stick the 10 speed behind the 6.6 and throw some 4.10 gears in while their at it.
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

I don't like admitting this, but from a performance standpoint, your right. I don't think Ford has ever done this well on the Ike test. It has taken forever, but Ford finally delivered on their spec sheet. As for the looks, that is subjective, and personally I have grown to like the GM HD look. Others may not...o well. The performance gap is what I am not happy about. I knew the aspbeating with the 6.6 gas was coming (the lack of gears and/or the 3.73's in the gas engine made it a predictable outcome). I am surprised/concerned at the Duramax performance in comparison. After years of the GM trucks being dominate on the hill, I guess turn a bout is fair play, hopefully this calls GM out to find an answer. If I liked driving the first loser...I would drive a GT350 instead of a ZL1. Sorry... Fish, gotta get a win where I can right now...lol.

I wouldn't mind owning a ZL1 and it still has the good looking front end compared to the obnoxious front ends of the other Camaro's. And this is coming from a previous '85 IROC Z owner.
I still own my 85 IROCZ. It was my first new car.I ordered it with all of the bells and whistles. It has 48K on the clock

Those were the best looking cars back then. I sure enjoyed mine.

They were, I have had a 76, 78 RS, 89 IROC 350, 96 SS #2156, and my current 15 ZL1. The IROC was hands down the best looking Camaro ever in my opinion. I wont say build quality was great, but the car was simply awesome to look at. I don't think I have ever been as proud about a car as I was the day I brought that home.

Crazy how everyone differs.

I'm in the midst of a truck hunt as we speak.
Impressed with the 7.3 low rpm torque, simple durable push rod engine.

Actually love the looks of the new Chevy/GM.

AND the 6.4 Hemi keeps grabbing my attention.

Simply may go with who can give me the most truck out the door dressed in 2500 series.

Well how the Ford performed was subjective. Yes if you want to pull 30,000 pounds a minute quicker than yes Ford wins. But it was a lot louder doing so with the fan on most of the ride. I want to see a more realistic 18k pounds or something with a fifth wheel RV. That's the most common purpose for consumers (not businesses). And measure everything including sound level, EGTs, etc.

For the gas engines, Chevy has always been behind in the HD segment. If I wanted a gas engine to do work, Ford would be my choice. I had one 6.0 gas Chevy and was over it pretty quickly.
