Any advice or input on my brand of tires?

Hello everyone. New here. Also a member now of Good Sam. The wife and I just purchased our new Grey Wolf 23dbh. My main concern are the tires that came on it. They are LionsHead Vail Sport RT. I found their website but am having a hard time finding any info or reviews on these. This makes me a little worried. Does anyone on here have any opinion or advice on these? Thanks so much.

Run the Lionshead tires for two seasons.
You have plenty on your plate right now to buy.
Air them up to the sidewall max and go have some fun.

I don't know of any study that states one year, but I did look at the America's Tire/Discount Tire website, and in their faqs regarding ST tires they state they have a mileage life of 5K miles to 12K miles. Seriously ? 5K miles ? That would be one trip from my home to Arizona for the winter and back. That's too short of a lifespan for my use. Yet another reason I would not use that type of tire.

I had the Vale Sport RT tires on my Camplite 21BHS. Took them from Florida to Arizona and Utah with no issues, and then from Florida to Townsend, TN. After the return from Townsend, I took a look at the tires and found a deep 4" cut in one of them with evidence of tread separation starting. Now it could have been caused by road debris, who knows. I had one tire replaced by Lionshead under warranty because of a 1 inch slit in the sidewall when new. I did get about 7,000 miles on the set before I replaced them. My camper is light (about 4500 pounds loaded) and is tandem axle, so I'm only running at about 65% of rated load. I replaced them with the Carlisle RH radials and there is a big improvement in towing.

An LT tire with any load capacity in 15" is hard to find. If there's one out there I'm sure someone will point you in that direction.
Once you get to 16" the doors open to a lot of LT tires.

I have no personal experience with the following tires, but a couple more 15" potential options in LT are:

Kumho Crugen HT51, LT235/75-15 load range C, 1985 pounds at 50 psi
Kumho Road Venture APT, LT235/75-15 load range C, 1985 pounds at 50 psi

Don't know about those tires but Lions Head is the worst company (in my opinion)! I had their Akurets tires on my 5th wheel trailer and 3 of 4 tires separated with only 12,000 miles on them. Lions Head wouldn't honor our 2 year warranty and referred me to Americas Tires website study that trailer tires only last one year. Luckily Open Range stepped up and helped me. But, Lions Head uses the cheapest tires they can find, I'm sure your tires too! Replace tires immediately is my recommendation. Lions Head won't do anything for you. And, lastly, RV buyers should start demanding manufacturers put quality tires on the rigs we buy!

You don't say what size they are. 14" tires are hard to find in anything but an ST. There are a few Commercial tires like the Hankook RA08 and Kumho 857 that work well for 14".(Maxxis makes a 185/R14 that's not an ST tire Bravo)

TT tires are a sore spot for a lot of us.
As you have found already, a brand that few have heard of. This is common in the ST tire world. Another new brand keeps popping up... Failures start happening and then yet another new brand appears... Likely all made in the same factory.

Quite a few of us have given up on ST tires and switched to LT tires with great success... There are some rabid ST tire supporters that will be along shortly to say I am full of it.

Take it all in, and believe whatever you want. It is your money and your choice.

I have a 2013 Gray Wolf 26BH with the same brand tire on it. I had them on one full season but the tires were 2 years old. While they looked okay I was leery the second season because I was taking a long trip and didn't want problems if I could help it.

I went to my selling dealer which by the way does not sell tires at all. There lead tech told me if I was to go out very far at all get rid of the tires because they were junk. I took his word and bought new Maxis and so far I'm very happy.

I have seen tires blow on trailers that were within gross weight limits. Sometimes they are not hitched exactly right and not balanced (loaded) correctly.
Having a balanced load on all 4 tires (double axle trailer) is an important factor in tire failures. If your trailer is carrying more weight on one of the axles, it's possible to run them hotter than the other 2 tires.

As said, 3 yr life span , monitor your speed, watch your weight and keep them inflated .

Having the correct size tire that matches the wheel plus all the above....you should be fine. Sure tire quality is a factor but overloading and excessive heat are also the enemy .

Another junk Chinese ST tire is my guess. Keep a close eye on them, keep your speed in check and replace them when their three years old.
