So, this is more of a rant than anything. Wayne, if you need to move it or delete it, I understand.

Went to Packwood, WA for the whole-town flea market. Just me and the TC, no trailer (the one in my sig stayed home). I park in the same property every year, a big grass field set aside 50/50 rvs/cars.

I pull in, it's POURING down rain, but the weather man says it's going to pass. The lot attendant directs me to the next open spot he wants to put me. He escorts me over, I back in, get out of the truck, dash around to open my awning first thing so I have some place dry to stand while I get things set up.

First thing I notice is this 30-ish foot TT next to me running this REALLY noisy generator. It's only 4pm - TV inside the TT is on. It's noisy, but I think to myself, "I can tolerate it, I've heard worse." The guy comes out and says "Ya, we're sure gettin rained on. I need to take the cover off my generator so it doesn't overheat."

It was noisy before he took this cover off! He took the cover off, and I swear, you could hear it echo through the whole camping lot!! Under this home-made insulated wood box was the crappiest gen I've seen - calling it a Harbor Freight Gen would be insulting Harbor Freight.

I packed up immediately and moved to a completely different spot, surrounded by TC's, none ran a gen all weekend.

Then I woke up Sunday, packed up to leave, and SOMEBODY had let their dog **** not only in my spot, but RIGHT ON MY CAMPER-MAT!! And this wasn't a little dog either! Right on my camper-mat.

I love going to the Packwood flea market, and I'll go again next year, but really people?? You need some POS 5KW 10 year old Kmart genny to watch tv, and you'll just let your dog **** on other people's camper-mat??

Fwiw, I see campfire rings at RV Parks in WA and OR as well. About the only ones that don't are the parking lot types.

I have little to ad to the indignation directed at discount store generators primarily functioning to convert octane to db, or arrogant jerks imposing their music choice on everyone within miles.

When did RV Park owners decide we all enjoy having our rigs flooded with smoke? My wife and I just spent 7 months wandering about the US and Canadian Maritimes. Once East of the Mississippi it seemed every RV Park provided campfire rings at each site. That invariably resulted in our neighbors lighting a fire within a few feet of our windows. Campsites in public parks are usually big enough to safely accommodate a campfire. The average RV Park site is not.

One owner told me their clients desire a "camping experience". Sorry folks. If you take your kids to an RV resort in your 35+ foot trailer or motor home you are providing some experience other than a "camping experience"

With a medical condition he would have greater incentive to buy a polite and quiet gen. since it would then become a good tax write off.

I would have went over and ask the guy point blank why he was running the noisey generator. maybe he has a medical issue and needed the power, oxygen machine or something similar. there is a lot of people that have medical issues that still love to camp and enjoy the outdoors. I realize it is inconsiderate but confront the person before all the ranting. maybe suggest an inverter to use during certain times. just my personal opinion.

Yes, smaller towns, smaller gatherings, people are more prone to be very considerate, on the other hand.

The ones that enjoy being rude and annoying to others..... that is the ones I cannot stand. It's like they make it their goal in life to be rude and impolite to someone ea. day.

Of course that is why I have wheels under my house so I can split. Sometimes not leaving till I get a chance to tell them about their faulty manners and character.

Some people are incapable of camping without fire. No matter HOW many signs state there are fire bans.

My story is more about stupid than inconsiderate, but I thought I would post it anyway.
Went camping last weekend at Manning Park, here in BC (park is on the US border).
There's bear warning signs all over the park, and "Be Bear Aware" signs at every washroom and toilet. There's a report of a small (400 pounds) black bear in the area, spotted near the end campsites.
We just went through wild fire hell here this last summer and there are still fires burning not too far away.

I'm walking my dog (2 poop bags in my pocket, just to be sure) and I go past a deserted campsite. Coolers out, food on the table, campstove and BBQ out and a fire burning in the firepit! What is wrong with these people?
