Back Porches, lets see em!

We're looking for a back porch on our Lance 865. I think I like wood better than diamond plate. 4' wide? Rails? Steps off the back? Does yours fold up for travel?
What makes it work for you? How much should I budget for a back porch?

We have one very similar to Ron Humphress, ours was made Jimmy Johnson, I'm not sure if he is still doing them. There is a firm, Justice Welding, that built our front cooler rack and could easily do a porch. They are located right at the Maryland/ Delaware line on Rt 113 North of Berlin, MD.

Welded the hinges and can remove via pins. Same way I remove the porch from the TC but bolted hinges to bumper. Pull pins when I want to remove the porch.

Very basic. But it is attached to the truck and not the camper. I included it when I sold the TC. But before then I had added storage boxes to both sides.

I actually made it out of the front portion of an old motorcycle trailer with the main support being 2x2 square tube plugged into the hitch. To steady it from wiggling side to side I bolted 2- 1x1 angles at the right and left edges- these just slid under the bumper.

I just hit the untreated lumber with stain and preservative- no ground-contact needed. That saved weight.

Just built one! I used a hitch cargo carrier for the base. 4 feet wide, 2 deep and 18 inches high. All wood, not expensive and it holds my generator, cooking box, the screen tent, shower kit for the outside shower, gas for the genset, and other odds and ends that I don't want in the camper for whatever reason. The top is rubber mat. A couple of chains on the ends makes it very stable. Sorry don't have a pic, but I based it on one in the mod section. not too heavy for me to move myself when empty as it comes apart into 3 pieces. When I tow it comes out of the hitch and goes on the trailer. I have an 8'camper so the hitch is not obstructed.

That was on our old 05 881.. easily transfered over to the new 992.
