I have a 2000 F150 4x4 with the tow package. I just purchased a camper to put on it. Dry weight is 1200 Lbs small water tank and small propane tank. Would like to add air bags or a leaf spring support, what are your thoughts on these?

Yeah you totally need a F550 Dooley for that camper! Lol
In order of ease of install and price.
Stable loads if they make them for 150s. These will not increase the load carrying cap at all though, just will engage the overload leaf quicker.
Timbrens
Add a leaf kit
Airbags.

You'll have close to 2klbs in the bed ready to camp, so I'd go with something other than the stable loads. I've used the other 3 on many of my F150 work trucks over the years. Used to carry that much weight on a daily basis.

Yes, there are a good number of members on this site who are running TC's on F150s and getting away with it.

That's as far as I'll go. They are getting away with it.

You can get away with a lot in life. Odds are still heavily in favor of nothing bad happening.

That said, there are also a lot of forum members who also qualify those claims with something akin to, "but I own an F250 now." There are a lot of members who cut their teeth on an F150 or other 15-series truck, and ended up upgrading trucks.

You tell me: If the F150 wasn't lacking, why do all these people buy heavier duty trucks?

Ha Ha Ha!!!... Yeah, I hear ya, but you're wrong!... Look around on ''this site'' at the members with truck campers on a F-150.

Also, look at this TC on that ''small truck''! LMAO!

Just because something fits in the bed and some people get away with it does not mean it is something everyone should do. It's that simple.

Neither trucks nor campers are trivial expenses. Few people can afford to buy a second truck or camper if their first purchase proves to be less than satisfactory.

Most people are "stuck" with the first thing they buy, so doesn't it make sense to make darned sure that there's a reasonable chance of having a rig that will make you happy *BEFORE* you plunk down your money?

Truck ''would'' haul that camper just fine!... Look around on this site at the F-150's hauling a pop-up TC.

My first TC was a pop-up and I hauled it and pulled an aluminum Bass Tracker Bass boat without any problems, and I didn't have airbags or anything else on my springs!

Then I bought a hard-side TC and in 2012 I bought a 2013 pontoon... With the TC that I have now, I had to put airbags on my F-150. The truck would squat after I loaded the TC down with gear and hooked up the pontoon.

When we go on a camping/fishing trip, I pack A LOT of gear!... The camper is packed tight!

Picture of my F-150 with the TC (loaded down with gear) and the pontoon.

Too many people on here saying a F-150 won't haul a truck camper! :R

Put it on the truck and get it weighed. Then you will know how far over your payload you are and what would be the best way to go.
