I came face to face with the RV reality of what living near the coastal lowlands of California really means. I sent my wife over to a certain RV dealer and repair shop in Dublin Ca to buy some antifreeze for the TC water system. They didn't have any and no one had ever asked them for it before either:S

Of course Wally World down the street had a rack 8 feet high and 8 feet wide filled with gallon jugs of it:B

Well......its been cold for to long now. Had to set the little heater up this morning. It was 29* in the S&S this morning....not a hard freeze, but to cold for comfort. There is no water in it and the faucets are all open and I completely drained the system, but..........

Don't worry about the 5er...I've never put water in it and I've had it for 2 1/2 years. So I'm pretty sure there isn't any water in anything...lol

Yeah I get mine for the p-traps at Wally World or Fred Meyers for usually around $3-4/gal.
Our forecast is calling for some tropical chinook temps again and rain (not good when the ground is already frozen). It'll most likely add more ice to the roads but with any luck it'll stay cool enough to be just wet snow. We've only seen -30's* F a couple times so far this winter...

hmmmm Yosemite forecast just turned nasty Winter storm warning for Friday night, up to a foot of snow by Saturday winds to 25 at night 10 during the day and night time lows in the single digits. If we go I will drain the fresh water tank and water heater and just use water jugs for drinking and flushing. Have to really keep an eye on the timing of the front.

that's what we do from end of October to mid march...the water jugs. we figure the small inconvenience of not using the water system is no big deal for us. can we use it with our heated tanks...sure. I like to be extra safe though. so 3 water jugs go with us and we are on our way. we head out later today and the forecast now shows colder. -2f for Fridays low. have a fun trip buzz.

DJ,
there will be plenty of places east of the Ser Nev that will have RV anti freeze down to minus 40. Death Valley in Feb, huh? Hmmm?

If I sent my wife to an RV dealer for anti freeze there would be too many projects coming out of that trip for me to do! None for her. Around here we don't have to go to the dealer for Anti freeze, lots of places have it and about October there are usually sales on trying to get me to buy here or there, with wide array of prices as well.
Enjoy the trip.

Freezing rain last night here in Crestline. Woke up to ice and 27 degrees. Had to wait for the sun to hit my driveway before I could "slide" out! Filled up the propane tanks on the camper yesterday for the winter guests when they are here so they'll have heat. I also winterized the water system... 😞 No camping this winter for me unfortunately, except a night or two in the driveway....

We are supposed to get down to 29* tonight, I'm not sure of the low last night but it never dropped below 40* in the S&S. I have a remote temp sensor inside and it reports to the base in the bedroom. If we gat a cold snap I have a little catalytic heater that I set at 40* and put it in the S&S and open the bathroom and cabinet doors. That way I'm still ready to camp whenever we wish. Cost a little on the electric bill............but not more than $25.00 a month to keep the S&S ready to go.

that's a good one there.

that's funny. although with our temperatures right now here at home...im thinking it just might be okay to live somewhere where they don't stock rv antifreeze.
