Enough with the recalls

Well for 5 weeks in a row now I have gone out to the mailbox and each week had a recall notice on my truck. Security recall, drivers airbag, passenger airbag, steering wheel harness and now steering box plate welds. I was about to make an appointment to take it in but I think I should wait another couple of weeks and see what else comes in. This truck has been perfect since day one plus it drives and tows like a dream so I hope it stays that way and yes its a Ram. But don't puff your chest out if you have something else because I work with a guy that has a new Ford F-350 and he is going through the same thing. I guess none of them can get it right the first time anymore.

I bought their 8 year/120K bumper to bumper warranty on my new RAM. These trucks have become so complex now that one is foolish to mess around under the hood or do anything else that would void their warranty. The last warranty I bought was in 1981 on a VHS tape deck. Never needed it, however I kind of think I will get my money back in spades this time.

At least they are fixing defective units instead of letting the customer deal with the problems.

I have all of the recalls too and the track bar one just came this week. I have looked at the welds and they look just fine so I am not at all worried about it. I'm thinking it may have affected a small amount of trucks because I have yet to read about anyone with poor welds.

I too am OK with the fact that they are making good on potential issues. I absolutely love the truck so I can live with it. I am still not happy about the vibrating POS General tires though....:M

Auto mfg are under constant pressure to lower costs, build higher quality products, and there's been a lot of regulatory pressure to recall if there's even a hint of a safety or system failure.

Component, systems, and interactions are becoming increasingly complex.

My 2011 has been pretty good (touch wood). The defrost quit and the climate control module had to be replaced. $500.00. Tie rods and a couple of other minor recalls that were done during normal service. That's about it.

I haven't gotten any for my 2015 3500. My brother got a couple, air bags and something with the steering I think for his 2013 2500.

I guess I'm lucky so far.

I have always tried to stay away from first year big changes, especially drive train. My 13 had one minor recall on tranny hose fittings. I am well known at the dealership 50 miles away, and the service manager trusted me to check for problem, then he did the paperwork.

I've had the first two recalls for a few weeks. I called my dealer, and he told me a third was coming soon and to wait for that one to come before scheduling a appointment. Third one came yesterday.

Have 34,400 miles on mine and owned since May 9th of 13'..Replaced a windshield washer pump and up to date on all recalls except this last one, other than that, no other problems. The track bar recall is a bit of a concern. Truck has been on lift and looked at by me and the tech...I see nothing wrong with welds at this point, ( though that doesn't mean much). As much towing as I've done with this truck in last 2+ years (almost 40' 5er, loaded to 16,400#), all mountain towing, IF welds are bad, I'd expected something to have happened long before now. Also, track bar set up on 4wheel drive trucks has a more "robust" assembly then 2 wheel drive set up....BUT, guess we'll see what we see...
I'm not worried about driving this truck.

I haven't had any on my '12 truck either.

The one recall that would bother me if I owned a ram is the defective weld on the suspension. I plan on giving my truck to my son in a few years when he gets his drivers license and I wouldn't want to take a chance on a suspension failure.

Than it must be true. All the automobile sales people have a direct line to the finance side of corporate on how they calculate product costs. But I know you were just kidding just did not see the 🙂
