ENTRY LEVEL?

I just read it again about how some trailers are considered entry level trailers by the elite of campers. I have a Jayco Jay Flight 29QBH this trailer has the layout we wanted the water and holding tank capacities we like but yet here is considered entry level. I has been to Florida ,Tn twice,Indy,& numerous trips here around IL and now that I am retired it is going to get pulled around alot more and many trips far frome home ( Tn in march Deadwood in June) I will not apologize to other in campgrounds for my aluminum sided entry level trailer I will just enjoy our trips and have fun. If this is entry level I guess it is where I belong I am not going live in it 24 - 7.

I think you mean "elitISTs". The difference being that "elitists" use such terminology because they can really only aspire to be "elite"- talking down to others is how they keep their hopes up.

We love our entry level, light weight trailer. It does everything we need it too for much less money and weight. It keeps us warm and dry even though we take it over the roughest of trails getting to those places the bigger rigs wont fit. We also haven't had one issue in three years even though though we are usually in fairly extreme weather.

I was taught young to meet my needs from the ground up and stop there. There are lots of things that are nice to have but if you don't need them, they are usually wasted. I don't need to impress anyone.

Entry level.. Really...

If your pickup or tow vehicle is not atleast a 2014.. Then it is an entry level without the newest updates.... If your travel trailer/pickup camper/fifth wheel or motorhome is not atleast a 2014.. then again it is an entry level rig.

Come on. …Labeling should be above us at our ages.. Leave that to the kids not the adults.

Just what exactly is an entry level rv.. Inexpensive/short/light/only two tires/only one battery/doesn't need a one ton to pull it/used/tin roof or what is it that makes it entry level.....

It certainly isn't a Nuwa built sticks and tin fiver.

The Jay Flight that I'm looking at can be ordered with fiberglass sides for an extra $1,000. I guess it would make it "look" less entry level but it'll still be the same camper either way. Smooth sides doesn't always equal exceptional build quality.
The Skyline Nomad I just sold was 14 years old. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

When we started looking we had no idea what we wanted..class A or a pop up :h

Even though we had camped in various RV's over the years, we didn't know much. :@

Here is a laugh.. When one dealer said to us, you don't want that, it is an entry level. I said, oh yes we do. That will be so much easier to climb into on days my hips and knees are bad. I thought he mean't that the entry was level to the ground 😮

We looked at many TT and found that most "Entry Level" were as well built as the higher priced units. It is amazing what they charge for upgrades you can do yourself for so little. It is how the unit is constructed what counts, not the quality of the 4 yards of material used or the little bit of wood trim.

Choose the unit that suits you. If someone judges you by how thick he thinks your wallet is, you don't need him.

I also keep hearing that wood frame and aluminum siding is, cheap and entry level. Sorry, that is not a true statement.

Our Sunline Solaris is a high quality camper with high quality appliances and features throughout. Their 3 year warranty backed it up. Sunline offered the same exact quality build camper in a hard sided fiberglass or aluminum sided with Krystal coat on it. It was an option, not a quality shift. Unfortunately Sunline was one of the 1st to go under in Nov 2006 with the down turn in the economy. That is another sad story in itself, where we lost one of the quality camper manufactures of travel trailers, 5th wheels and truck campers.

As far as entry level, I started with a back pack and 50# in it. That is how I entered camping. I considered myself on top of the world going to places located in God's country in the wilderness with hiking stick or a paddle in my hand. We now haul 10,000# of camper and "stuff" and still go camping in God's country just the trail is little more paved. You will never find one stitch of trash or messed up campsite where we have camped due to respect for nature and my fellow camper. As far as the neighbor next to me, they can be in a 1960 VW camper bus with a peace sign on it or triple slide tag axle diesel pusher and I'll invite them over for campfire. How ever you entered camping, good for you. The world would be a better place if we all went camping and respected each other like we should.

I know our Pioneer is considered an "entry level" TT. Mostly, it is a basic no-nonsense model. I can live with that.

Aluminum siding, rubber roof. Keeps us dry. Hasn't leaked yet in 11 years.

It didn't come with a TV, although I did have to remove a TV shelf in the bedroom. The TV shelf in the kitchen is used for food storage. We don't want no stinkin' TV while camping.

Try as I may, I cannot find a new TT that has nearly as much storage in the bedroom as our little entry level model. Ours has more capacity in the water tanks compared to most. For our kind of camping, these things are important.

We don't need marble or Corian countertops when camping. Heck, we've not even one time used the microwave that came with our camper, except as a bread box. I think we've only camped once at a place that had hookups.

Nothing wrong with no-nonsense TT's, whatever label you want to put on them.

Last year we spent many nights in our entry level Jayco and 3 nights in the Sheraton downtown Seattle. I prefer my Jayco :B

Maybe they should be called base models like vehicles then. Would it make you feel better if someone asked you, how you are enjoying your base model trailer?,

I don't know about you colliehauler but I very seldom look at how many stars a hotel has, :h even if I did I wouldn't be able to count too 5 without a lot of effort. :B

If your offended by entry level what about motels? Is a 5 star the same as a 1 star? How about car batteries they rate them by Month's or good better best or are they being snobs. All it is is a way to compare one model with another nothing more.

You are welcome to camp next to me in my entry level Gray Wolf 26BH anytime! Actually I've only run into that type of person one time. The DW and I were on our way to southern Texas about 6 years back when we had just got our new at that time 23 ft. Hybrid and we stopped overnight in Dallas in a private campground. We pulled in about 4:00 that afternoon and was on the road by 7:00a.m.

When we were setting up this lady who was parked next to our site in a rather high dollar diesel pusher came over and ask us if we were really going to park that kind of trailer next to there motor home. Shall we say she was less than pleased with us and our camper. I just smiled at her and went about my business. We found out later she actually went to the manager and ask if they could move us away from there site. She was informed by management that wouldn't happen. 🙂
