Some of the hills going into Cheaha are stupid steep!! My Chevy 6.0 with 4.10's was turning 4000 rpms in first gear and losing speed. Ended up at 20mph by the time I got to the top. I was pulling about 8000lbs.
I think you are on the right track, replace with an after market clutch and stick with that Cummins.
Yeah I have a biking app that shows grades on segments and a couple of those climbs are a ridiculous 20%!
It's amazing every year to see the bicyclists participate in the Cheaha Challenge. They leave Jacksonville at 8:00 AM and ride to the top of Cheaha and back. I can't imagine riding up those hills.
If your trailer is small enough you can take the back way up through Munford. It has a lot more curves but no long pulls.

Well doesn't look like Ford and I are going to get together, they want too much difference between my trade and the new truck and it's just an optioned XL. Same with Dodge dealer on a new Cummins tradesman with automatic. Still haven't heard from Ram customer care, I'll give them one more try today and then ordering an aftermarket clutch. I've been looking at valair and south bend.
Valair-dual disc for $1195 or quiet dual disc for $1395? How much harder is the pedal going to be with 3800lb pressure plate than stock?
South bend-stage 2? Which one?
I'm not interested in a really grabby racing type clutch, backing the camper with that would be a pain. I'll also probably not delete the truck, but might do an emissions friendly tune after warranty is out in 2 years.
I have the Valair DD and it is bit nosy when disengaged, but very solid, I don’t find the pedal too hard, I daily drove through town at least ten lights one way everyday and didn’t find it an issue.

Well you could have something more than the general c rappy performance of the dmf clutch going on. Again easy fix.
BTW, you may not think it’s slipping, but if you can whiff it you slipped it, period. It won’t smell unless it’s slipping. Period.
Nice Southbend DD street or 3250 clutch is in order. Single disks are good and I’ve had a single disk SB for over 100kmiles but in retrospect I should have spent the couple hundred more for dd clutch.
