I hear a lot of bad press on the ecoboost. Does anyone here pull with one and what as your experience been with it. Would you buy it again? I just can't make up my mind on it.

For me, I got tired of hearing my V8 at 4000rpm. It's where the torque is at that attracted me to the EB, not necessarily the amount.

I don't doubt the EcoBoost V6 is ok. I understand that it outsells the 5 liter V8 by a significant margin.

Thing I don't understand is why ? I have a couple of friends who have 5 liter V8 F 150's...one a '12, the other a '13.

Power is similar...although the V6 torque is greater....the V8 has that wonderful V8 exhaust note....the V6...sort of a blaaat.

But that's just me... I'm a V8 person I suppose.

Just bought a 2013 4X4 CC with the heavy tow package. 36 gallon fuel tank. Downsizing due to medical reasons and just needed a tow machine to pull my 17 foot boat and the bad (rough) boat ramps here in Florida. Got 18.3 yesterday on a 200 mile round trip @ 60 mph.

Mine gets about 10 mpg towing at 55-60. It can get 21 mpg, empty on the highway at 55. 73 mph on the highway yields about 18 mpg. Cold engine, lots of stopping and starting, and a heavy foot can bring it down considerably from there.

Over 25000 miles I averaged a hare under 16 MPG, and that includes 2000 miles of towing where I averaged 11 MPG. I would say that 80% of the rest was city, but it was tough to get over 18 on the highway. Cruising at 55 did seem to be the sweet spot.

I am no longer a true Blue Ford fan, went with a Cummins/Ram for my diesel. That said i have stated before I really think Ford hit a Home Run with the EB!

I think they have addressed the early issues, and they seem to be strong pullers.

Although many here are too juvenile to compliment a brand that isn't what "they" drive, I'm not among them.

Our police dept has an F150 ecoboost that is abused regularly for K9 patrol duty. It has been very good so far considering the use.

There was that intercooler condensation issue, and a few other minor bugs when it was introduced, but from what I read, it's a powerful tow rig. I was very impressed with the power when i drove ours. Just don't expect miracles in the mpg department as many people report its good, but not amazingly so. I think all the advertising had people's expectations too high in the mpg area.

Put on about 2000 miles towing up and down the east coast this summer. No problems at all. Great torque and it gets about 10 mpg towing.

If you have never driven one, you probably can't see it.

Does anyone know the max payload capacity you can get with a new Ecoboost crew cab 4X4?

In reality somewhere between 2200-2400 lbs depending on options if you get the hd payload package. I had ~1850 on mine with max tow only.

2400 lb. payload with the 4x2 regular cab 8' bed, or 4x2 Super Cab 6.5' bed. Engine choices: 5.0 V8 or 3.5 V6 EB with 3.73 rear axle and max payload and max tow package.
