GVWR; how close are you?

I guess there is no way to post a poll on this forum. But with several threads discussing ways to increase the carrying capacity of trucks used to haul slide in campers I got to wondering how everyone fits with regards to weight.

While I'm under the front and rear GAWR of my truck, I'm slightly over the GVWR.

How about you?

When someone says they have a fast car, I can only guess how quick it is when climbing a 6% grade. My car will do 110 at 5,500 RPM in 5th gear on a 6% grade.

No idea. It handles well, live in western NY, been to Florida several times, the outer banks a couple times, the Smokies a few times, Adirondacks and Maine many times, and New Brunswick & PEI once. If it hasn't broken by now, I guess it's OK.

My truck's GVWR is 11,400. With just the camper and the family I'm at 13,140 full of fuel. If I add the 4' hitch extension and hook up the boat I'm probably around 13,500.
What's that, about 18% over.

I'm 200 lbs over with my fully fueled truck and fully loaded TC. The GVWR of my my F-250 is 10,000 lbs. The payload is 3,314 lbs.

Over gvw by 200 lbs, but under tire and axle ratings. I am way over the glove box camper mass suggestion. It says 800 kg and the dry mass of my camper is 1280 kg

Does anyone else travel without the truck camper jacks? We don't ever lower them while camping and don't plan on taking the tc off the truck. Would this be a crazy way to lower the total weight?

I'm over GVW, but about 250 under the front axle rating, and 450 or so under the rear axle rating. And about 1k under my GCVWR it looks like. 93 Pastime 8' camper on an 05 F150 supercab.

I tend to take my jacks off though, as well as travel really really light. No water in the camper, full tank of gas and propane is all the fluids I care. When pulling my boat everything goes in the boat so the truck is still under axle ratings, and the boat is very light itself.

My TC is way lighter then I estimated,only 800lbs,,on a 1/2 ton Silverado

Havent weighed yet but after adding 500lbs to my dry weight that still leaves me 1300lbs to my max capacity. I dont travel with more then 10 gallons or less of water and waste tanks always empty. So we would have to try hard to get 600 lbs in our trailer. So Im about 700lbs+ under weight.

I'm not. I was over when fully loaded and towing the trailer with race truck with my F350 DRW. Fixed that by going to a F550. Now I don't even think about weights.

Most people with TCs are probably over but within 10%. When I was researching years ago, the common goal was to try to stay within +10%. I can't say I remember why that was the magic %.

My camper is about 500 over the camper weight specified in the glovebox for a camper, but the GVWR supposedly includes 4 people and the tailgate. It's been a few years since I weighed, so I don't remember the actual numbers.

Based on signatures, many people in this thread are talking about something other than a TC.

Right there with you. Also under the wheel and tire ratings by a lot.
