I've got a 2016 Dodge Ram (Black). .We went camping and now I have something on the hood of the truck,that won't come off. I don't know if its pine pitch or something else. I've tried washing it off,went to a car wash. and its still there. The hood looks good until you run your hand over it. Any suggestions on removing what ever it is. I thought polishing compound,but I'm a little leary. Thanks for any suggestions

T&P is correct. Clay bars are very effective.

Hand sanitizer has alcohol and doesn't evaporate so fast. Works well on pine sap.

If it is actually sap then you can soak it with rubbing alcohol to soften it. Then spray some WD40 on it and you'll be able to wipe it right off.

No polishing needed it's not scratched. Besides, factory clear coats are pretty thin, you may risk burning through.
Bug n tar, cleaner wax, clay bar are all good ideas.

I've had good luck with Goo Gone for autos. Just be sure to wash it thoroughly after.

If it is pine sap, just go to the carwash, and spray the area with the hot soap until it is gone. I park all 3 of our vehicles under ponderosa pines.

Mequires cleaner wax. Takes off the imperfections and leaves a great slick shine that will help keep more sap off. Easy on, easy off. Well worth the time.
