The Chinese vehicle thread...now ask how long do you plan to keep your brand new TV?

Chinese Vehicles page 6

My sig says I'm not one to change mine out every few years...so my view on this topic skewed to high levels of maintenance & quality of materials/labor/etc

The 1980 C10 Silverado dad gave me is going to go soon...not willing to spend the time & money anymore. After several engines (even a built one where I've caught both daughters beating up Muscle Cars out on the local boulevard).

Nothing right or wrong...just personal opinions and choices...

Looking for demographics of what is driving the current OEM offerings and know their demographics is way larger than what this forum represents...but this one, IMHO, critical to the future of TVs/SUVs/CUVs/etc

I trade my trucks every two years. Actually trading a 2016 Ford DRW for a 2017 Ford DRW because I got a great deal in trading. On order should be here in two weeks

Hopefully until I quit towing for pleasure. Bought our GMC D/A in June 2012 and currently have about 35,000 miles on it after 5+ years. If it operates properly, it should last until we quit towing as I am 72 years old now and don't know how long we can go, but the truck should last however long that is, hopefully.

So far, my chiropractor is doing a great job so I'm keeping mine as long as my left knee and hip hang in there. Craig

In response to the question "How long do you plan to keep your TV"

I will keep mine 3 years. I will lease it new and when the lease is up I'll give them back the keys and get something else. I don't want to deal with repairs and repair shops and the long-term cost isn't much more. Plus, it's nice to have something shiny and new. If there are any problems I will take it to a dealer and let them "deal" with it.

I just picked up my 08 F150 SCrew back in April. It had 64k miles on it. I am hoping that this truck will last me at least 10 years. It's got the 4.6 V8 which is the smaller one. For my needs it's perfect. pulls hard and toes great. Plus it gets right at 20 mpg hwy (hand calculated) and about 16.5-17 mpg empty. Sounds good, looks good, runs good...what more could a man ask for?

Thanks!

Love that era SUV's and first gen coined SUV...

Would still have my K5 if it hadn't rusted out from ski trips to Tahoe and trips to Bosie. Road salts ate out the lower body area and the window cranks. Pic before the Dana 60 front and GM 14 bolt rear & 54 gallon main tank

Current TV/SUV and hope it lasts another 21 years..

In the last 25 years I've bought just two new trucks for my own personal use. I buy my vehicles and trailers new, and run them out until they have little value. I hate wasting money on something that depreciates so much, so I try to get as much use as I can from it.

My next new truck could come at any time from a practical standpoint, because at my age I will only be buying one more vehicle.

"How long do you plan to keep your TV?" Five years is my plan. However, I have owned a 2003 F150, a 2003 f250, a 2005 f150, a 2007 2500hd, a 2009 2500hd, a 2012 1500, a 2013 2500hd, a 2016 f150, and my current 2017 f150 in the last fourteen years. Works out to be nine new pickups in fourteen years or 1.55 years apiece average. About the same as the number of rv's in the same time. Retired in 2003. Coincidence?
