INSURANCE FOR TC ONLY

My auto policy on my truck provides some coverage for the TC, however I don't think it will cover any damages to the extent I would like. Aside from Geico (Good Sams), is there another company that would insure the TC by itself. My TC cost a medium fortune and good coverage on its value is of great importance to me.

Another vote for Progressive RV insurance. I think they do have an "Agreed Value" policy, but I am sure you would get to pay for that privledge. I only have my camper insured with them, but have used them for years on my RV's with no complaints. We have had claims twice in the past and had good experience both times.

What benefits/coverage is available with a separate policy for the TC vs. addig it to the truck policy? I was told that the TC accident/damage payout would be determined by "book value". Are there insurers that insure them for "agreed" value.

Thanks to all so far for your quick response. FYI, as suggested before posting I did do a search on TC Insurance and got 10 hits, truck camper insurance no hits, and insurance 1700+ hits to many to sort through to find the name of an insurance co that insures the TC only. Thanks for the Progressive suggestion, will follow up on that. I thought CW was Geico, my error if its GMAC, and I have heard horror stories on State Farm from friends and neighbors who had storm damage and State Farm, so not sure I want to go that way, it could be I have to insure the truck with them also. Anyway, thanks to all and if any add'l posters can name a company they have had good experience with on TC only ins, I'd appreciate a post. FYI my truck is insured by Farmers, had AMFAM for everything but they wouldn't insure the TC with the truck so had to change...most agents in this part of the country have no clue what a TC is and when I tell them what its worth, I can see them rolling their eyes over the phone.

I have the separate Progressive policy too. Cheap and clearly insures on or off the truck. Good to have the peace of mind.

My auto insurance has separate coverage available for RV's. Our loan on the TC required it. Cost about $15/month.

We have had a blanket auto vehicles and RV's policy with Citizen's of Michigan insurance for almost 30 years now and have had 2 RV claims over that long time. They were absolutely excellent in paying for the damage and very fair plus. I'm referring to our non-motorized RV's as our motorized RV's are actually insured as drivable vehicles and have much higher insurance premiums. One was a very expensive total loss with a tree falling on our 36' Carriage 3 axle 5th wheel and the other was a roof ripped and punctured when an up in the air tornado passed over and threw limbs and branches on our RV. $100 deductible on each and true full coverage including $2,000 for loss of use and accomadations (trip interuption). Lowest premium for one of the RV's was $34. each 6 months for one TC and the highest was $48. each 6 months for a couple year old large high end 5th wheel. Extremely cheap in our eyes and has been for almost 30 years now. How RV/auto RV insurance works in your state is something I cannot answer and up to you the research for the answers. Michigan auto and RV insurance costs are a fraction (less than half) on the same insurance coverage in Florida as I have a brother with both insured who has lived in Palm Beach County FL since 1963 and we compare often. I gets his ire and hair standing straight up every time he hears the bill print out numbers. "Hears" because he's blind so his wife reads them to him from our scans emailed!

This topic is brought up often so if you do a search on "TC insurance" you should find alot of different opinions. I carry separate TC insurance thru Progressive since they include "full cost replacment" for the first 5 years. The policy actually came down this year to around $180. For me that is money wisely spent to get the extra separate insurance. I really dont want to depend on my truck insurance company to cover my expensive RV.
