Jack is too short

So the main jack for my Jayco 165 doesn't lift the front of the trailer high enough to be able to lift the trailer off of the hitch. I have to slide a 4" block of wood underneath it to be able to lift it high enough.

Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any info to tell me if there is a wheel or something that may have been there at one time to make it higher. Does anyone know of something permanent I could use to increase the lifting height of the jack? The block of wood works but it feels a little rednecky (yes, that's a word).

Put me in with the rednecks that use a block of wood 6x6.

Same here. The shorter the jack, the greater the stability.

It's probably a good thing we need to put a block under the jack. As is, I still occasionally scrape the jack on driveways and have on occasion straddled fallen objects on the road. If the jack were made taller for more extension,it could block rear doors and tailgate access.

I have a 6x6 or maybe it's an 8x8 piece of wood that's always under the tongue jack unless I'm hooked to the tow vehicle.

I have never tried to remove it without a 4 inch block of wood under it. Carry it with us always.

I use a gizmo called a flip foot. Extends the shaft about 6 inches and automatically folds under the frame when retracted. Works real well, paid about $50.00 for it.

Doesn't have to be "red-necky"
Do what I did. I made a solid box out of sturdy wood, and spray painted it gloss black.
I also made four of them a little shorter for my stabilizers so the spread of the scissors wouldn't be so high and also painted them black.
I have had a few people ask me where I bought them
We use the Trailer four months every winter, so I give them a fresh coat of paint once a year.

That's what I was thinking. I can't think of a time when my jack didn't have a 4 x 4 under it (except when it is hooked to the truck).

Does your trailer jack have one of these under it. Mine also came with WHEEL adapter as well...

These are available from ETRAILER or AMAZON

I always put 2X8 wood sections under all my jacks to keep them from digging into the dirt. A larger flat area gives better support

Stick a block of wood under the jack.
