Towing an avenger ati 27dbs- Jack used 4 times. Handle wouldn't engage to raise or lower the jack. Took cover off and found gear slid forward and was completely broken off. Since need new jack and dont want to lose tt for months we are just going to buy a new one. Looking to get automatic one. Gross weight 6540, hitch weight 741. Recommendations on an automatic jack that is durable and easy to install/use?

Well, the ebay auction has been pulled, looks like it was a scam somehow.

Harbor Freight has a 3500 lb jack with adjustable foot, with 20% off coupon its $111. Pretty nice looking and people that have it don't have any complaints. Time will tell.

No, they had a riding mower jack for cheap and that was a hoax. I guess they are collecting information for identity theft.

Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

I've a Barker that I purchased maybe 15 years ago and when I sold my trailer I kept it to put on my next trailer. I had kept a cover over the top of the assembly, however due to the sun wear and a pretty nasty storm, water got inside of the unit and ruined one of the micro switches. The jack would lower the tongue, but not raise it. Being that I had purchased the unit so long ago, I called Barker and was prepared to purchase the needed parts. They originally sent me the toggle switch as that seems to be the part that is normally needed in cases like mine. I installed the switch and the results were the same. I called back and explained what I did and they sent out to new micro switches and an LED light. This past weekend I installed the micro switches and it is like brand new. I'm not sure of many companies that will send out parts on a unit more than 15 years old for free. I'd buy from them again in a heart-beat.

When we had our TT, we ordered one from ebay that was about half the price of the one at our dealers. We got it in 2 days, it took DH about 30 minutes to install it. He said that was the best thing we ever purchased for the trailer.

Here is just an example, but it has great 5-star ratings. I do not know this brand, nor the dealer, but it came up as having the cheapest price with the best ratings.

Whatever brand you decide on, get one with a high weight rating. Many of us use the tongue jack to lift both the trailer and tow vehicle to make installing the bars easy, so a stronger jack will better handle that abuse.

I had a Barker 3000 on our last TT. I abused it for 13 years without any maint. and it just kept coming back for more. I would buy another one if I needed a replacement (which I think I will since the present one is making noise and skipping at less than a year old).
