Building a goose camper and I thought I had the camper picked out but not so sure it is a wise purchase for $15k. It is 500 miles away from me so I put a small $250 deposit on it. Supposed to go there this coming Friday to look and purchase.
I have had to stay on the salesman about sending me better photos, information, and specs. Including the guy saying he "mailed" them to me as in snail mail, which as of yet have never arrived (8 days). SO this made me start really looking hard at what information I did have and also questioning that information.
Host Yukon 2006 but build date is 9/2005.
The plumbing he says has been modified to where you cannot run off of city water, you fill the tank and then use your pump. Outside shower self-installed/modified. I asked for photos, none received as of yet.
The roof has me concerned as looks like lots of things removed and the screw holes not sealed. Says no leaks or any signs of leaks.
Told me the heater did not work but they ordered parts then he said: "It just needed to run and it works". Fire and C02 inop.
TV boost doesn't work.
The generator does run and work.
The hot water heater is unknown as no water in the tanks but says we will check when I get there but they really go through these and make sure everything works when they sell them.
No batteries
The camper just looks like it was a live in camper for someone and spent its whole life outside uncovered/protected.
The person who owned it also made modifications inside, pulled the microwave out and put a convection in. not a very good self-install either. Looks like frig has had some issues in the past with different colored wood below it.
Not sure if there is water discoloration at the foot of the dinette slide out inside?
I just would like to see if some experienced eyes would look at the photos as I may be reading into this or completely missing the obvious.

Either way, not something I would spend $15 k on .
The slide and lower beam do have delamination.

And ultimately it will be something similar to this setup.

The problem is this has exactly the features I was looking for to build a goose camper to use to go to Moab and such. But I did have suspicions.
As someone asked, I have asked several times for photos of the popout tent portion to be set up and photographed. No joy so far.
The roof had me greatly concerned as did the slide side where it seems to be delaminating. Plus the modifications.
Thanks very very much for your input and education on modern truck camper pitfalls. I had an older cheaper one while living in Alaska that we used on the Alcan also but it was a beast....solid but a beast with aluminum siding.
I could realistically spend up to about $35k without any issues but this a dirt bike goose camper so I really do not want to spend more than $23K or so. The wife then decided I had to get something sort of nice in case she wanted to go. Plus we plan to use it to go to Maine in late July.

I would not drive 500 miles to see it, unless you have other bussines going this way.
Delamination on rear corner might be start of the cancer.
Would be interesting to see how the tent looks like.
