Big picture...who in the world dumps a front loader full of cinder blocks in the bed of their truck...not many of us.

But, many of us do care about payload, and mileage and other benefits. My bet, you will soon see (Heaven forbid) an aluminum Ram.

There, now I said it and I'm going to be in big trouble of some here on the Forum.

I'd like to see more than ~3 seconds of partial shots of the GM bed (and why a second or two of the outside ?WTF? other than to avoid more shots of the damage). Tricky photog work does not impress me.

I too thought Ford was going in the wrong direction with the aluminum bodies, but after seeing the new tow and payload ratings of these trucks I have NO doubt the others will be following up real soon.... I have read somewhere that GM will be putting Aluminum bodies on their trucks in 2018, but have not verified that. FCA, who knows, they are still trying to merger with someone .....

Military grade aluminum?

"We get more dents before 9am than most trucks get all day!". 🙂

That said, I bought my trucks for payload for rving, to haul bikes and lawnmowers, bags of landscaping rock and garden soil, camping gear, and firewood. Aluminum would work fine for me. I'm a weekender guy, not a contractor.

That's a stupid test, nobody in their right mind would do that to any truck. I used trucks for work for years and would never load something that way.

I own a F350 SD and a F150 and the F150 is a car truck when compared to F350.

I would rather push my Ford than drive a Chevy.
They have to say something since all other brands fail miserably in Crash tests and all other areas. Keep dreaming Chevy Boys .

Let's all be honest here, the F150 isn't really a truck and the offerings by other brands isn't much different. It is a car with a truck bed on it. It must ride nice, look like a truck, work well with trips to the store and to sporting events with the kids and their stuff, but to get a real truck you need to move up a bit to a 3/4 ton or greater.

I'm not bashing Ford here, it is just what it is or isn't.

That's what I was saying, they buy Ford/Chevy/Ram but, they're used like a Honda Ridgeline.

You're probably right. I wonder how many of the trucks on the road are used to actually haul anything other than occasional use for furniture, etc..
I think a lot of people buy them because the like them, not for utility use. It's just another type of SUV to some people.

Several years ago I worked with a guy who had a Ford with a bed cap. Every couple months he waxed the truck, including the bed.
I asked him what he did if he wanted to haul something dirty or messy.
He said he borrowed his neighbors truck to haul anything.
You know the people I'm talking about. :C

part of the reason I bought a 2016 super duty, im just not sold on having an alum truck, not that I plan to drop cinder blocks into the bed.

As I posted in the other thread "I have hauled two loads of stone dropped in the bed by a skid loader and three loads of mulch also dropped in by a loader. Not a single dent or hole in my bed.

I bought a truck to use it to haul things in. Looks like the Blue Oval gang can't do that with their trucks. Aluminum has it's uses in a truck just not in the bed! Maybe Ford will go back to a steel bed when they add their baby diesel. BTW you guys do know Ford is going all aluminum in their HD trucks also right! Looks like they will need to rethink that idea, at lest for the bed."
link to other thread

My bet is Ford will very quickly switch back to steel in the bed, if not they will be losing a whole lot of sales.
