My Jensen radio has developed a bad habit...

My Jensen radio/DVD likes to turn it's self on, typically in the middle of the NIGHT :E It also continues to try to eject a DVD/CD even though there is nothing in it. It was doing this only once and a while but now is happening almost every other day.

Anybody else have this? Did you fix or replace the radio/DVD unit? I'm hesitant to replace it with another Jensen that will just likely break again. Typically like most electronics, this thing only lasted 3 years with little use :M

The model is Jensen AWM970.

Our 2004 Keystone only has an OEM radio/CD player, which works. But I was able to connect a left-over Samsung DVD/FM Radio/I-Pod sound system to a 32 inch flatscreen. It uses wireless rear surround speakers (now on stands), making it handy for full theater performance without the least bit complicated RV wiring. The sub is in the deep cabinet behind the screen, the center above it and the stereo speakers hung up in the corners.

From the rear RV living-room chairs, the 32" TV is almost too small, but the sound is very good. The wireless speaker signals interfered with home Wi-Fi, making the decision easy to reassign the system to the camper, and update the stick house to Sony Blu-Ray to boot. We also added a better ported 12" power-sub at home, which could be done to the RV also.

So far, we've watched the weather on it...
The local CBS broadcasts a weather radar channel. 😉

Goducks, I used two channel audio RCA output to 3.5mm adapter to aux input of my TT radio. My TV HDMI input doesn't work so I uses component for video only.

I agree with BurbMan. I had the same problem. Once I made sure the alarm was off problem gone.

The Jensen radio/CD (I think it's the same model) did the same thing in our Keystone Springdale TT. We bought the TT used (only a year old)but after trying to "reset" the radio, checking that the alarm wasn't on, and going thru the troubleshooting agenda, I called the dealer and asked what we could do.
Two days later, we got a whole new unit from Keystone. After installing it (easy, just pull it out and plug all the wires into the new unit), I tried the CD player...and it refused to play a CD, just kept spitting it back out. I admit to being a little annoyed! So I pulled out the new unit, unplugged it and was going to send it back to Keystone...when I happened to see a big red sticker with the words "REMOVE THIS CD SHIPPING SCREW BEFORE INSTALLATION"! Removed the screw, re-installed the unit and every thing works great. My husband told me "If at first you don't succeed...read the directions!"

There was another thread blaming the auto on feature on some models associated with weather alert. Might check that out.

1 year latter and all is good with our Jensen. Fingers crossed.

But to the guys that add a Blu Ray player how do you get HDMI sound thru the Jensen radio? Most only have 1 HDMI input. I would love to junk my Jensen DVD player simply because the little remote with 50 buttons on it is a SOB to work.

I've found the Jensen TV and stereo to be pretty good quality. I had a question as to how to set up my TV and stereo to play the TV audio through the stereo speakers and got a very good answer from these people as to how to do it. I'm sure they could help with your Jensen stereo.

You might try the disconnect first like noted above and see what happens. Jensen units are very low-end so consider a better brand down the road.

+3 on the alarm ( but im not assuming any guilt).

To the previous post,
The Jensen has Aux inputs for audio and video on the back panel. Which when you access can also add a ipod adapter plug.

Yes, mine was doing that when the trailer was just a few months old. And when it did it, it had a message on the screen something about looking for USB. I tried various things, and finally in frustration, I said "ok, you POS, if you're looking for USB, I'll give it to you !"

I plugged a USB stick into the port, powered it up, pulled the thumbdrive out, and that seemed to clear it out. It has never malfunctioned since. Go figure.

Since we are talking about a Jensen stereo, I have a question concerning the setup with a tailgater satellite. I like to listen to the music that dish offers. How can I get that to run through the trailer speakers via the Jensen stereo? I'm guessing that maybe it would work if I have it wired as if I'm going to watch a dvd and the coax from outside going directly to the receiver and an HDMI going from the receiver to the tv? Thanks for your help. Mark

PS: I had the alarm radio going on at all hours. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I called my dealer.
