Need help - looking for non-slideout camper w/ big bathroom

Hi all. The title pretty much sums it up. We are looking to replace our camper and we don't really have a lot of requirements, but the ones we do have are kind of limiting for sure. Our bucket list is:

- 2010 or newer model
- Long bed
- NON slide out
- 6'4" headroom
- BIG bathroom (preferably "wet")

Does anyone happen to have any suggestions on campers which may meet these criteria? Thanks a lot. Adam

My wife and I bought an Arctic Fox 865 a couple of weeks ago. It is every bit as nice as I thought it would be. It is also every bit as heavy, that is the only real down side.

We took it out for a three day adventure and had a blast, it was comfortable and everything worked like a champ. I had one issue with a broken plastic bit on the EZ-opener contraption on the door and they sent the parts out right away.

I do not have anything good to say about RV salesmen from any store in a three hour radius of our home. We endured all manner of liars and cheats during the buying process. The dealer we settled on had two things going for it, they had a camper in stock and they were willing to deal. I knew we had them cutting to the bone on price when they insisted on cheating us out of the second battery and over-selling the over-priced **** from the company store. Declining the all but worthless "camper insurance" sent the loan-hoochie into a fit. I have a feeling the $4000.00 they wanted for insurance will fix a lot of broken stuff over the life of the camper.

Arctic Fox builds a great camper, it is a tad on the heavy side. I added Ride-Rite airbags, Rancho 9000XL's and upgraded to better tires as part of the truck camper plan. I own an F-250 and when I ordered it with a TC in mind. I got the FX-4, camper package and every heavy duty upgrade to the suspension, underneath it is an F-350 in pretty much all respects.

I vote 865 and I did quite a bit of looking before we bought this one. We were serious about an Adventurer 86FB, but the salesman was such a lying crook and the dealer a slimeball we had to say NO. They did offer to discount the camper 5% if we bought a/c for $2500 and a gen set for $5500.

I emailed Adventurer to ask some questions and the company guys were prompt and friendly. The dealer was the deal breaker. Thus we own an Arctic Fox.

As I have posted in the past. Owned a 2012 Adventurer 86 FB which has one of the biggest middle wet baths in an 8'6" model with 41 gallons fresh and 32 gallon grey/black capacity. plenty of height too.

If new, yea I vote for the AF 865 or Wolfcreek. Don't see them used very often. My dealer locally has both new. He had a used WC 850 and it sold quick. You probably would have an easier time finding a 1055.

The bath in our 13', 10-2 cdse was the deciding factor for us. We liked the 9-6's dinette better, but with a left knee that only bends to 35-40 degrees the few extra inches make a huge difference.

Another vote for the 865. I have one and it meets all your requirements.

That is quite a TC resume...and a very interesting statement. Don't want to hijack this thread...but that sure caught my eye as those are all good campers.
What do you like best about the NS?
They sure do have some loyal fans...

Adam,

I really like my Northstar 12STC. It's a non-slide, non-basement dry bath, 6 ft 8 in headroom. At 6 ft 4 I have no issues, fit in shower just fine. I'd looked at Northern Lite (just before they had the fire and rebuilt) but they wouldn't do a compressor refrigerator-- Northstar will, plus make other changes. Very well-built camper. I figure on a loaded-for-trip wet weight of 4000 lbs, and have it on a dually. If you want to go a little lighter, still have headroom and really want a wet bath, try the Igloo 9.5. I've owned a Lance 845, Arctic fox 1150, and S&S 11FBSC -- like this one the best.

Wow... this is interesting! I have an old NorthStar catalog that shows at one time they made a 10.5XL model, but it was only 7'-6" wide. This one is wrapped in 7'-9" wide and a 12' floor length!

I need to peruse the NorthStar website more often to keep up with their innovations and new products.
Sold the TC, previous owner of 2 NorthStar pop-ups & 2 Northstar Arrows...still have the truck:

2005 Dodge 3500 SRW, Qcab long bed, NV-6500, diesel, 4WD, Helwig, 9000XL,
Nitto 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers, Honda eu3000Is, custom overload spring perch spacers.

I agree on the AF 865. After being in one I was very impressed. Here is an earlier thread on it:

Arctic Fox 865. You won't see it on their website.

Apache Camping center has some, and I recently saw one at another dealer, but I don't remember which one.

Northern Lite is an excellent and well made camper. All of the 10.2 models prior to 2011 were 6'5" interior height but sometime in 2011, they were 6'8" interior height. The 10.2RR model prior to dry bath is the smallest of the bathrooms and I have that model. Great storage in this model and layout. The other ones in this size were larger baths. 2016 models are about 11.1 inches in floor length and refer to them as 10.2EX models. Good luck on finding your camper.
