well after much debating between used trucks(late model) vs new, we finally made a decision.
just picked up brand new 2017 ram slt. with dealer discounts on 17's it was a no brainer

Toyota was our first choice, but 2017's are almost non existant and 2018's are way past our paygrade.

Ford vs GM vs Ram, it was just a question of price and availability with what we wanted

the ram won, nicely equipped 2017 slt 4 dr model, v8 hemi, 8 speed, 4 wd, full tow equipment for just over $40k(cdn). it had 22 km on it

more than enough payload and gcvw

I have a 2015 Ram and it has a great ride. My wife prefers it to her Toyota Highlander. As to Pogoing I have no idea what the poster is talking about. I haul a car trailer loaded and have no such problems. Good luck with your new truck.

We just picked up a 14 laramie Longhorn, Wife wanted all the frills and we also were short on funds, I found one in Georgia with 60K for half the window sticker, we are very very happy with it, and I am very impressed at the ride and quality of the truck.

congrats.

thanks, doggy's great too, loves travelling/camping

he's great in a vehicle too, he's tethered to a rear seatbelt

we're really pleased with the truck, even with pogo stick suspension!

large screen navigation/phone/media stuff, nice interior without going nuts with the higher priced ones

Nice truck - I love the coil springs on my 2500. Way more controlled and smooth than the jarring leaf springs in other trucks. If sag or softness is a problem get a set of air bags and you're all set. I run a set of Firestone's on my 2500 and I can load the bed right to my 3000# payload with virtually no sag. And that's with the bags only at 50psi and they hold 90.

You are going to really like that transmission. I have it in my Challenger and it's a joy to use.

Enjoy the pogo stick (coil spring) rear suspension....

stevemorris Please ignore this post. As they have no clue what they are talking about. My Ram 1500 has been a taken every trailer I've towed (light - overloaded) like a champ. Have even impressed friends with how smooth it rides all loaded down.

I will!! pogo stick vs a spring type used on horse carts and model t's? tongue in cheek of course

with the hemi and 8 speed, no more struggling up long hills

no more column or floor shifter any more, a big twist knob on the dash and steering wheel mounted 1 up and 1 down shifters, sure beats fiddling with a regular shifter when trying to go down one gear

I really enjoy mine. Despite the ignorant comment, the suspension is softer than I would have liked, but perfectly controlled.

Should be a great truck. You'll enjoy it! Getting a good deal is just the frosting on top.
