As I sit here in Goshen IN waiting for Jayco to fix our fiver Jayco is putting me up for the week. The motel I'm in is where many RV haulers stay when they are laying over here. What I noticed today surprised me, most of the pickups used by the haulers are Ram pickups with a few GMCs and Chevys. Only a couple of Fords here tonight. (One of them being mine) Seems to me that ford has done a pretty good job of ruining their name in the RV hauler industry.

Yeah... It's suppose to be "Gloom and Doom" or the "Sky is Falling" is the norm.

For what it's worth some real world experience.

Bought a 1999 F250 7.3L and towed my 28ft 5th wheel over 150,000 miles with 0 maintenance cost other than scheduled service. No break downs of any kind.

Traded for a 2006 F350 SRW 6.0L and towed 35ft 5th wheel 99,995 miles with no break downs or maintenance cost other than scheduled service. At 99,995 had a high pressure oil line break inside the engine. Fixed under warranty by first Ford dealer and drove 30 miles shut the engine off and it would not start. Towed to second Ford Dealer and they found that the first dealer left a piece of snap ring in the oil line and it got sucked through the oil pump, egr cooler, front engine cover and other parts. About 10,000 dollars worth of damage to engine, all fixed under warranty again. After that drove the truck for another 30,000 trouble free miles before trading for a 2010 F350.

Bought 2010 F350 DRW 6.4L and towed a 35ft and 43Ft 5th wheel for 32,000 trouble free miles but fuel mileage was awful so I traded for a 2013 F350 DRW 6.7L and have not towed with it yet but am seeing about 30% better fuel mileage running solo. Love the new 6.7 so far. I can't believe the difference in power from the 6.4.

One big trailer although she only explained it with no photos that I saw anyway.
8 ponies is going to weight in pretty heavy, especially with hay and lack of clean up while traveling.

The cr@p was either in the horse when he entered the trailer or created from something that he ate once he was in the trailer. It doesn't add weight once it comes out of the horse!

Sounds like a load of horse s**t to me. 😉

It's all part of the speculation on where the Fords went. It appears the owners are drinking coffee at McDonald's or hauling horses...

Mine spends a lot time in the mountains and is nagging me go to see the fall colors next weekend: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26882185.cfm

Don't have a pic but it's a goose neck trailer that holds 8 horses, has a changing area with saddle storage, then has a camper area with full dinette, sofa, and queen bed. It's very heavy with the horses and at least 35' long.

I hope she's legal...sounds like that would need a class A license.

For those of you who like a REAL cup of coffee, try Community dark roast or CDM (Café DeMonde). They both come with all the additives. Allows you to recycle that old motor oil. CDM has the added bonus of chikory. Takes a little getting used to, but MMMMMMM. (For the lightweights at Mc or Star, bring extra cream & sugar.)

I have noticed this for years.

Ram has always been #1

Ford used to be #2 now GM is #2 with Ford far behind.

Same with the RV parks where full timers stay.

Where did this data come from?
