We have a 2011 Open Range Journeyer 337 RLS. It has had a boatload of problems. The awning pulled away from the sidewall about 4 ft long on the back half. The screws holding it attached was only put into the sidewall and not into any structural member within the wall. There was a leak down the wall at the big back window. Took it back to dealer 2 times and they said that they could not duplicate the leak and therefore could not do any sealing to stop the leak. I sealed everything on the back of the trailer myself and stopped the leak.
Furnace- Had to have the sail switch changed on the furnace. Furnace is still very weak and once the furnace turns on it never turns off and eats lots of propane. It will heat, go into its cool down mode and the comes right back on. Furnace seems to be undersized for the size of the camper. Airflow out of the furnace vent is very weak. There is no dedicated air inlet for the furnace. I emailed Open Range and asked them how the air gets to the furnace and they emailed me back and said that the return vent is under the refrigerator. I have a drawer under my refrigerator, not a return vent.
Shower drain- The shower stall is not adequately supported and due to flex in the shower pan the shower drain pipe broke 3 times and flooded the entire enclosed underbelly 3 separate times. After the third repair the dealer told me that I need to reinforce the shower pan to eliminate the shower pan flex. Almost impossible to get to anything under the shower pan. Also due to the shower pan flex it caused a pressure water line to pull loose and flood the under belly also.
Carrier Heat Pump/air conditioners- Real POS, would not adequately cool trailer and was constantly in shop for either not heating or cooling. Finally one month before my 2 year warranty expired Open Range allowed my dealer to replace the Carriers with new Coleman heat pumps. They were originally going to replace the Carrier heat pumps with a regular non heat pump AC. I told them no that I had paid for heat pumps and I wanted them replaced with heat pumps.
Decals- This is my 6th trailer/5th wheel I have owned in the last 19 years. I have never had any trouble with decals before. I do not know where Open Range gets their decals, but they are the worst I have ever had. I had to take the "Open Range" logo off all 4 sides because they were peeling and curling so bad.
My dealer stopped carrying Open Range products. I asked them why and they said that they had to because the quality was so poor and that the warranty work was killing them.
I would not buy another Open Range. I think we are are going to downsize and buy a good quality small trailer, Maybe a Lance.
