Hi
Anyone have experience with ram's perforated leather seats? - the ones with air conditioning. I found a 2014 1500 with these and am wondering how the holes affect the longevity.
Thanks much.

I like them in my truck. Can't really speak to longevity yet as the truck is a 2012 with about 38,000 miles, but so far no problems.

The seats in the ram are not air conditioned, just ventilated, and it pulls air through the seat not blowing out. Put a pice of paper on it and turn it on you'll see. It's a great fart extractor!

I have them in mine, and its an AWESOME feature for long summer drives. My wife is always cold...so instead of high AC settings, I turn on the cooled seat and its all I need.

My '93 TBird has perforated leather and is in good shape, my '14 Ram has it also. As stated, a premium cleaner and conditioner a couple of times a year will keep them nice for years.
The Ram seats with fans suck air from the top to cool the seat. I love mine in the summer.

I have a 14 ram 1500 longhorn that came with them as standard equipment. Had a take it or leave it attitude until I went through a hot humid south Alabama summer. Got a more positive opinion now. Crumbs do present a bit of a problem but with a little special effort with a vac all is good once again. Mines a little less than a year old with about 13k miles & no problem. One member on our ecodiesel forum had an underliner shift & had to be replaced. Saw a YouTube clip that evidently had a similar problem; when he turned the air on it pillowed up pretty badly. By the way, while they are not directly air conditioned there is an a/c vent terminus directly under each seat & the fan does pull cooler than ambient air up through the seat.

Rented a car a few years back and they upgraded me to a new Caddy with those heated/cooled seats. Driving around in August it was the best thing since sliced bread. I would order that option in a minute, but also agree with other posters, that if my kids were still little I would likely pass on it.

A coworker has them in his Camry. I think it is a strange feeling when the air blows through, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks. Not sure if teens are cleaner than little ones - guess will see. Wife will kill them if they spill.

I know the perforated leather concept is or at least can be good. I have it in my 2005 Ford escape with no problems. Was more wondering if dodge got it right in the 2014 rams. I heard some older ones had issues.

It's not A/C btw it's just a fan to ventilate the seat.

My bud has them in his gmc. He doesn't like it, but he has a young daughter that drops food, like chocolate and the holes get plugged. He then has to clean them.

I have leather that's not perforated in 2 of my dodges. They are the vented seats either though, just heated. But I have 2 boys under 4 yr old. I figured it would be a terrible idea for me at this point. Maybe later in life.

Leather seats have been perforated for years. Today it is rare to find anything else. Generally todays leathers hold up quite well given proper maintenance. That means a good cleaning and conditioning several times a year.
