Pics of new Ram 3500 SRW

I picked up my new 2015 Ram 3500 SRW yesterday morning that I ordered. It started to rain as soon as we got to the dealer and pretty much rained until early evening today. Once the roads dried I headed straight to the car wash and did a quick cleaning by hand. The color is Maximum Steel which looks awesome in sunlight but these pics are overcast and in the evening.

So far I love the truck and it's amazing how much has changed since my 2006. Got nerf bars, floor mats, and mud flaps on order and Line-X coming in a week. Can't wait to pull with this.







I went with the 20" rims as I liked them better than the standard 18" ones.





The LCD on the dashboard is completely customizeable.



The 8.4" UConnect is also really nice.



I got the cargo and backup cameras.

I like the way they brought back the smaller chrome "c" from the 5.9 era. I saw a few this past week and was wondering what year that changed.

You could install a Lock Pick and fix the camera thing.

Not a favorite oil report, I've never ran the stuff. It's the report from Cummins at the annual trip another website makes, TDR. It's odd that factory fill is Valvoline and the owners manual talks about Rotella.

The biggest issue with the fake oil pressure gauge is that the pressure switch is 6 psi. Minimum pressure at idle is 10 and 30 psi at 2500 rpms, so one could have an issue and never know it.

:S LOL, but I don't know if info is accurate, or I'm getting a favorite oil survey.

Lets see. One service manager tells me Rotella 15W/40 (where I bought the truck). Another says Rotella 5W/40. Then there was the odd one who said Valvoline Premium Blue but in 15W/40 weight.

Good grief! You know, one could not even add a quart(if needed), with any degree of confidence that you were adding the correct oil to the motor.

Anyway, glad I changed mine at 3200 miles. At least I do know what is in there now.

Wow! Beautiful truck! I like the choice of gear ratio and transmission as well. Not to worry about the gauges. They'll tell you what you need to know. Back when the gauges moved in real time, most people whined and complained something must be wrong. It started with the soft seat thermostats and went from there. On my '95 12v Cummins Ram, you could see when the thermostat opened and closed. People complained. Just like the folks that howl any time the transmission (gasp!) shifts, all those things including the turbo silencer ring are the result of whining and crying in the service dept. Have no doubt if something is really wrong, your truck will tell you. Now I'm anxious for a towing report!

The oil pump for an 03 and a 15 bring up the same part number, same flow rate, etc. There have been no oil passage changes as well.

The pressure from the 06 was also fake, so readings are irrelevant. The only time my oem oil pressure gauge is accurate is 1500 rpm with a warm engine.

Per Cummins OEM fill is Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w-40, as they don't know what climate or season it will be sold in.

Hook a pressure gauge up to the port in the filter housing or the one above the ECM if you want real pressure.

Sorry for the derail.. It really pisses me off how much time and energy Ram puts into fake oil pressure.

Mind you, I seem to recall the oil pressure in my 2003 Duramax would go low down to about the 15 PSI point at idle.

Don't recall at all what the pressure was in my 2006 5.9 Cummins.

I've also had the oil changed on my new truck. From the factory, I have no idea what was actually in it, because so many different service managers told me different brands and oil weights. One said 15W/40, another 5W/40 and so on.

So now it has the 15W/40 Rotella. Which is NOT going for 15,000 miles. I may eventually do the 15,000 mile change, but not before I change over to 5W/40 full synthetic somewhere down the road and more miles on the engine.

Since I watch coolant on my Smarty Touch, previously an ultra gauge or SGII, I never look at my dash for coolant. I'll have to watch it on my next tow.

The temp gauge on my 2007 5.9L Cummins was fake too. It would not track linearly according to the Scangauge2 I had plugged in at the same time. It would go to just over half, and stay there as the temp came up, then it would move 3/8" to the right in one second as the temp hit a certain number (and I forget what that threshold was), then it would track linearly again.

EVIC oil pressure gauge is definitely not fake on my 2014 2500. Its a constant real time feed.

How do you know it's a real time feed?

Just asking because the dynamic readings posted above are not accurate for ISB pressure.
