Pulled the trigger on new TV

Well, if you hadn't seen in my previous post, I was in an accident about two weeks ago and my 2009 3500HD CC SRW Duramax/Allison was totaled. Youngest son was fine and I walked away with a stiff neck and a bruise on my shoulder. In a nutshell, the cab was pushed to the passenger side about four inches and tweaked the frame so good that it warped the tailgate and blew the front grill out. (T-boned in the driver side cab at about 40 mph)

This put me in a situation where I needed to buy a replacement TV big enough to handle the 5vr in my signature. Contemplated buying the 3500HD gas but really loved my diesel. Duramax won after looking at load capacities and the new features and the 6.0 is only manufacturer rated for 5vr towing of 13,900 vs. 17,100 for D/A. 5vr is about 12,000 dry!

So, can't figure out how to post pics but I got a new 2015 3500HD CC Standard Box and WOW! Exhaust Brake, Trailer Sway Control and Hill Decent Control! Add in about another 1000lbs+ of payload compared to 2009 and I am in love!

Can't wait to drill some holes and mount my hitch rails and umbilical plug!! Not that I ever had a bad day towing with the '09 but this is going to be a dream!

Nice rig! There are still some jobs only a diesel is cut out for.

True, and glad you saw that diesel is superior. Generally speaking the only people that really agonize the gas vs diesel debate are those that have a gasser and are thinking about a diesel.
Diesel owners, for the most part, don't go back to a gasser - unless they quit towing!

I guess I could have put some pictures of "Big Booty Rudy" to fill in the gaps of my story. Was a sad day.

Looks great. The '15s are the best looking HD design from GM yet, IMO.

I recently test drove a standard box GMC 2500HD. I was very very impressed by the ride quality. Nice choice. Sorry about the accident, but congratulations on your new rig.

This is the same camper I had when I pulled with my '07 SB with no issues, so should be okay but have to be a bit more observant on the hard turns.

Just curious,,,will you need to alter your hitch going from a long box to a standard??

Thanks for that advice ScottG! I knew it used all four brakes and the integrated trailer brake to "settle things down". I did not know that it would bring you to a stop. Good to know!
