If you tow with a Ram 1500, please tell me how the truck is configured, and what you are towing. Please only reply if you are doing this or have done it personally.

Had a 2014 1500 Eco Diesel for a year and towed a 31' TT weighting 8,000 pounds loaded. The truck pulled it up hills just fine at speeds of 45 to 50 mph.

2014 5.7L HEMI 3.92 tow package quad cab towing a 2014 Keystone Bullet 246RBS with Equalizer WD hitch. No problems towing but I do plan to help the rear spring sag a little with some replacement springs.

Towing a 25' Surveyor. Previous truck a 2004 4.7 with 3.55 rear end and standard tranny. Took it to every state and with no problems. Currently 2014 5.7 with 3.55 and 6 speed auto. New truck gives a little better towing MPG but I miss the better engine braking of the standard tranny.

Funny how that works! Too much truck? We want a bigger trailer. Too much trailer? We want a bigger truck.

2009 1500 with the 4.7L engine and 3.92 back end. We tow a Camplite 21BHS (GVWR - 5000 lbs). We use the Andersen WDH. Combo tows great. Took it from FL to the Grand Canyon and up to Moab, UT with no problems.

Before we downsized, we towed a 31 foot Passport (4800 lb. dry weight; loaded with everything we owned for long trips) with a 2011 Dodge 5.7L HEMI V8 with a 3.92 rear end, tow mode, Prodigy break controller, and a Reese Dual Cam WDH. It towed like a dream! Previous to that, we had a 2007 Dodge - same set up, same great towing.

With that being said, the current Dodge recalls give reason to pause...

I tow a 25 foot 5000, pound (empty) Pioneer with my 2014 Ram with the V-8. Full it is probably 6500 pounds
It tows it much better then my old Ford F-150.
It will tow at any speed you want to go, and many times I forget the trailer is behind me.

I live in the steep NC mountains and it pulls up them at any speed I want to go. I can go up them at 50 miles per hour where as my old F-150 would be held to 35.

My only complaint is downshifting coming down steep mountains it will not hold back without going into high RPMs.(that is both in tow haul and out of tow haul)

My gas mileage average at 65 is between 12 and 13 MPG. If I am at 70 or 75 it drops to 10. That is with the bed fully loaded and tw0 long sea kayaks and a canoe on the roof.( I have a cap on the bed)
So far we are on our second 2000 mile trip with it

If I had to get another truck today I would get the same

Don't really know the full question. We have a 2004, using Hensley and the trailer listed.

Tows great.

I'll keep following this to see where it goes

2013 quad, 4x4, 5.7, 3.92 ๐Ÿ™‚

Tows my tiny 20ft 3500 lb kz tt beautifully. No problem for lack of power, easily passing much bigger trucks towing much larger trailers up steep grades.

Only negative, the coil springs sag as I reach max payload. Sumo spring helpers worked wonders.

I use a plain ball hitch and occasionally a friction bar for anti sway.

I tow with a 2009 Ram 1500 with quad cab and 3.92 rear end and 5.7L Hemi. My trailer gross weight is 7,800 lbs. Been in the Rocky Mountains many times with no problems pulling. Just the wife and I.

I have a 2011 with the 5.7 V8. It is the quadcab and we tow a 2003 Coachmen Cascade 25RKS and recently changed to an Andersen WD hitch, a good move. Very happy with the vehicle and performance.

We have now put above 10,000 miles of towing on the truck and find no fault with it.
