Ram 2500/Ford F250/Chevy 2500-GAS Engines Towing

Ford 250/350 6.2 Gas
Chevy/GMC 2500/3500 6.0 Gas

What are you towing? Length/weight? MPG? How's the power?

I had this same issue once just for a min and have never seen it come back. I did google it a while back, even found a youtube video on it. Looks like a simple fix. Could also be water that leaked into the connections. I have never had the light show back up or any issues with it stopping my trailer so keep us in the loop of what the dealer says. Youtube it and u will see that there is a small box behind the spare tire that gets replaced and a fuse in the engine are fuse block. Hope this helps.

we tow 9,000 lbs with our 2015 6.4 Hemi over 10,000 miles towed including some mountain driving. Very well mannered and enough power. For me spending the additional on a diesel is not justified.

With the caveat that were talking about a nearly 8000 lb, front heavy and long truck, it does surprisingly well offroad. And I'm still using the **** stock tires. The suspension flexes reasonably well, and the large tires provide ample ground clearance particularly with the solid axle suspension characteristics. The sheer size of the thing hurts on tighter roads. The weight hasn't been an issue but I'm sure you deal with a lot more mud where you live than I do out west. Mileage is great considering the size/capability, and it really isn't much more expensive than an F150 Ecoboost. I paid $4k more than a coworker who bought a comparably equipped F150 around the same time, and if you equip that F150 with max tow, heavy payload and the 3.5 it would have been as much or more.

I used to - lost the whole rig in the divorce process. I was happy with the performance of the Ram 2500/6.4L Hemi combo. I put a few videos on YouTube. Same user name there. Just search for ib516 on YouTube.

I towed a 37' 5er that weighed about 12k.

2012 Ford F 250, 6.2L Gas , 3:73 gears ,, 2 wheel drive "XL"
trailer is 8,500 pounds at 30 feet long and almost 12 feet tall.
plus a motorcycle in bed of truck at 1,000 with tools/ramp/stuff.

empty 14 to 17,, towing with total weight of 17,000 pounds at 10 mpg.
and my truck has 145,000 miles.

I forgot to add: when pulling my fifth wheel, I get 7.5-8.5. I have seen 9 mpg in Florida, if pulling my car hauler I get 11-12. Now empty I get 14-15 city, 17-18 now on highway. I have seen it in the 22 mpg in the city when driving 45 or so. The mpg pulling the camper will vary with terrain so consider that. I went with a custom tune so I'm curious what I will get when I pull the camper next time. Regardless I think that all the gas jobs will get similar. Either make or model its up to you. My thoughts are to drive them all and pick ur best one. All are good in my book, I just like the gm series trucks more. The dodge offers both the 5.7 and 6.4 hemi, both are good engines. Regarding the Ford 6.2, it's also a good truck and engine combo. In fact I was looking for an F350 single rear wheel with the 6.2 prior my GMC purchase. Next truck will be another gas job with the 3500 single rear wheel and most likely the GM series, though this won't happen for many years to come. Good luck keep us updated.

2014 Chevy 2500HD 6.0 with 4.10 rearend pulling almost 10k 36ft travel trailer. Has plenty of power but LOVES gas. Just got back from OBX and got 8.0 mpg down and 7.4 mpg back. Be prepared for the engine to rev going up the hills. Was able to to keep it between 55-60 mph going up Sandstone Mounrain on I-64 in WV. Sure diesels have more power but it is not a race to see who can get to the top of a hill the fastest in the lowest RPMs possible.

Looking for a new truck???

Rig combo in signature, ~9200lbs loaded, overall pretty happy with the 6.0 so far. Just let the motor rev (3k+ rpm), and get the trans in the right gear and away you will go up the hills. If you keep it under 3k rpm, you won't be happy. My towing is the typical 8-10, figured by hand. But my DIC is always about .2-.3mpg on the low side. Non towing the truck loves 55-60mph on 2 lane roads, and under 70mph on the e-way. Keep a steady speed in those ranges and the mpg jumps way up. Otherwise it's about 14ish e-way (with the crazy traffic heading up north which almost becomes stop and go!!!) and just under that combined.

We just purchased a 2015 F250 Platinum Quad cab with the tow package. 6.2L gas with a 6 speed. Towing a 7,000+/-# Sunnybrook. I wanted a diesel but this truck presented itself. 14.5mpg around town and towing through the hills of Ct & Mass we averaged 12.5 mpg. The onboard brake controller is a huge step up from the Prodigy I had in the Burb. Somehow the on board computer can sense the load & deceleration and apply the proper amount of amps. I always felt I was getting pushed in the Burb while braking but now, stops straight, true and quickly. I was a Chevy man but this Ford is a beast. Plenty of power, easy towing, very impressed. We made a great purchase.

Hello! 1996 Ram 2500 Hd-SLT. V-10, 4-whl Disc. Limited Slip, 8,800 Lbs. Just shy of 300,000 miles, next oil change will put it over 300,000. Alpine-Lite 96, 31RL Augusta, 13,600.

Chevy 6.0 2500, CC, 4x4. Pulls my 34' TT very well. As a matter of fact, just pulled for over 500 miles today, with all 6 family members and full gear!! It's too bad those silly TT tires are limited to just 65mph, because the truck begs to pull faster!!

The one negative I would say is the the cruise control is lazy and allows the speed to drop 1-3mph quite frequently.
