3:73 gears, 500 mile trip not towing I got 16.2 mpg. Twice as good as my last gasser it was a Ford 460 it never passed a gas station lol

Those numbers are more inline with what I have seen in RL and on the other forums driving normal speeds. Don't get me wrong, I have seen a few 6.4L owners post 18 mpg from a trip where the wind was just right, but even they said it was not common. Someone quoting their best mpg they ever got when they usually get 2-3 mpg less under normal circumstances is very misleading.

When I had mine, I got 16-19 mpg empty on the highway (wind had a big effect), and 7-9 mpg when towing a 12k 5er. I would buy another in an instant if I had the need for a HD truck again.

My 6.4 with 4.10s usually got 13-14 mpg empty (2014 Ram 2500 crew long bed 4x4) and around 7mpg with my camper.

The Cummins is getting 18-19 empty and 11-12 with the little bit I towed the camper (but that was two fairly short trips).

I have about 3,000 miles on my 2016 Ram 2500 with 6.4 and 4.10 axle. In mixed driving I usually get about 12.8 to 13.2 mpg. On the highway I get around 15-16 mpg and try to stay 65-70, but that's hard to do on the interstate. I have yet to tow with my truck, but I hope to get 8-9 mpg towing based on a lot of internet forum reading. I like the truck. How it pulls my 5th wheel at 12,500 lbs only time will tell. It's rated to tow 15,600 and the payload is about 3,200 lbs.

On my back roads 10 mile (one way)commute to and from work I'm getting around 11.2 mpg average, but it's cold here now so that includes about 5 minutes of warm up in the morning and a lot of stop and go traffic.

Not good, but i wasn't expecting it to be either. And yes, so far after 100 on the odometer, on this new truck I'm all smiles. That big 6.4 Hemi has a lot of juice 🙂 and I've been driving it like there's an egg on the skinny pedal too, but I can already tell she'll go, if you really get after her. Lol

Last trip for me, 2500 CC 6.4, 9.6 mpg over 350 miles from the computer... Too forgetful to do it by hand. Max speed 62 mph, most of the time 55. All highway, no grades, just Michigan's hills.

I have been impressed with everything I have read on this forum about the 6.4. I really like my truck, it fits my needs like a hand in a glove, but if I were buying a new rig today I would look closely at the 6.4.

I doubt the cummins would get much better.

At a steady 65 mph my Cummins consistently gets 20-21.5 mpg. But where the diesel really shines is when towing. Gassers just don't get the mileage and the 6.4 with its cylinder deactivation that works nice when not towing is often never able to be used when under a load.

23 is the best highway mileage I have ever gotten with the 6.4 in my Challenger but I have never gone through a tank of fuel at freeway speeds without at least a little um, "playing".

Non-freeway road trips with speeds at 65 and under I get 23+. Not the norm for me but I don't usually drive 55-65 for long distances not towing. When I do that's a consistent result, however - in Idaho, with elevation and mountains. Winter mileage isn't that good.
