Sewer Hose Storage...My Turn!

After seeing all the neat ideas on how to store a sewer hose, I took a trip to Lowe's and bought a few things to create a sewer hose storage area on my Palomino Bronco 1200.

I decided I would do the plastic fence post cover with the plastic gutter insert. I'm using a Rhino hose and it won't fit in the available Campers World tubes.

The area I'm going to mount it is under the drivers side wing. But first I needed to remove the little panel that does nothing on the rear of the camper except limit access to the area over the wheels when the camper is in the truck bed.



This is the piece I removed with a jig saw from both sides.


I then finished the raw cut area with some aluminum angle.


Over on the drivers side where the storage tube would go, I mounted three blocks of wood to support the square tube and made some little "L" brackets to mount everything. Pop rivets are my friend!


With the tube installed it was time to deal with the cover.


I simply used a brass hasp with the option of locking the cover. Not sure if folks are stealing these sewer hoses, but you never know!

Good point and thank you for the explanation. You do one for the other side and keep some fishing rods in it. However, that may result in you having to give up 1 full donut! I would suggest 19.5 wheels and tires in order to keep your donut intake at acceptable levels. Happy Camping!

You certainly could do that. But the gutter weighs about a few ounces. To save that much weight I eat one half less donut... 🙂 And it cost under $10 for a 10' piece.

The gutter does two thing, keeps everything in place and east to get to without having to reach way down inside the tube, and it can be used as a bridge to support the hose while emptying. My truck is quite high and the outlet for the tank is 4' above ground.....

Very nice design and very creative! One question I have is in regards to the gutter piece. Why do you need to carry the hose in the gutter? It looks like a cool tray but not I'm not really sure it is needed. By trying to save weight and cost couldn't you just slide the hose down the square tube?

Yes, it seemed it was too wide at the top, but I couldn't tell from the pics how wide your camper is compared to the bed opening. On second thought though, the width of the floor is probably no more than 48-49 inches to slide between the wheel wells. With a normal tailgate width of 60 inches or so, the holder should clear by a few inches.
