slide stabilizers

What would be the best location for stabilizers (Stack jacks probably) under any of the slides? It is hard to tell what is the frame and what is not. How about the actual slide arm? I would think as long as you support it on a flat and nowhere near any of the drive teeth it should be OK.

Thoughts?

Just one of those aftermarket items being sold that are not needed nor recommended by MFG..yet they sell :S

I have found X-CHOCKS to be one of the best things to help take out some of the shake.

It's a dual purpose device.

Thanks gang. I decided against it and was really just curious since Camping World sells stabilizers for slides but they are a little spendy.

The trailer is actually pretty stable and we are on a slab but I have settled on just a couple of stack jacks under the frame and near the axles, along with the standard equipment stabilizers at the corners. Seems to work quite well.

If you are on a seasonal site and your trailer is parked on concrete slab, it might be worth looking into, if you have your trailer frame properly supported. YMMV

I don't park on concrete or pavement so decided against using any kind of support. We had 9 adults in our trailer last summer due to the smoke and bugs outside, 5 sitting at the dinette, two on the couch and two in the recliners. The dinette and couch are in the slide. We did not have any problems.

Never used them, no need to. Soooo.... the camper rocks a little. It reminds of the Carnival Cruise we took a few years ago.... laying in bed, every now and then, you could feel the ship movement... One night, it happened. I asked my wife, there beside me, "Hey, did you feel that?" She said, "Yes". I said, "That kind of felt like the trailer when it rocks a little, doesn't it?" She said, "Yes."

Well ... maybe the cruise ship feels like a trailer rocking!

Either way, they are not needed. Your slides are made to be supported properly. If you want to eliminate movement, keep any and all jacks under the main trailer frame. You'll be much better off that way.

I use mine at the end of the arms just snugged up,not tightened or pushing up.I also have had the dreaded flat tire with them in use and guess what,no damage was done because the trailer frame was properly supported.

If used properly, there are thousands of positive reviews of slide out supports and none I can find of them doing any damage to anything..Actual people actually using them.

Not needed! And will damage the slide and/or mechanism when the trailer settles or you get a flat! The slide out is part of the trailer and is self supporting. If it needs to be supported separately then something is broken.

Read your manual...I'm betting they strongly recommend against them.

Contact the MFG. of your RV and ASK them about using slide out supports


Just because a product is offered/available via the aftermarket doesn't mean it is required, needed, is an improvement or that it is worth buying. Just means that it is 'for sale'---period.


Wonder why MFG. didn't include them with the RV :H

Never use stabilizers under slides. A little settling of the main stabilizers and/or a flat tire can ruin a slide frame.

That would be a perfect place to use them. Love slide supports. I've never had two flat tires on the same side at the same time while not rolling.
