SRW or DRW??

Wife likes a 5'er with a 16300# GVWR. Contemplating a RAM or GMC Diesel tow vehicle. Am I in DWR territory for sure? I don't want to strain drivetrain components or have white knuckle towing experiences.

Once you tow with a dually you will never go back to a SRW.

Same drive train in the Ford or GM and certain Ram models.....so that weight won't strain the drive train.
What you need for a 16k trailer is a truck with enough axle/tires to carry loads. Especially RAWR as its going to carry most if not all the load.

There are a few one ton SRW trucks with just enough axle/tire capacity (7000-7050 RAWR) but they will be maxed out.

For a 16k trailer I would go with any of the one ton DRW trucks with those big 9375 up to 9800 RAWR.

The drivetrain is almost all the same SRW to DRW, with the exception of the rear tires and maybe rear springs. That said, that's a pretty big 5er and a DRW would be best although it would likely fit under the weight limits of most new 3500 SRW trucks.
