After being slammed by a campground gate, and flirting with disaster on highways filled with barrels and cones, I had some steps built to protect my bubble butt.

They come in particularly handy when filling my auxiliary tank.

Hope the pic turns out.

Nice Job, I installed an aftermarket side step for my dads truck a while ago. I didn't have the time to make him one. The one that u had done looks really clean and meant to be there...nice

Yes, but they're beautiful hips!

Dodge has the best looking dually pickup bed ever made, bar none.

Had the shop fab to my specs... they did a great job. They used bolts I think with those compression nuts in the frame, then triangulated braces so it'd hold my weight plus. It sure helps with adding fuel to my in the bed tank, and haven't hooked up the trailer yet, but think it might allow me to reach the hitch handle. With those hips, it can be a reach.

Just remember the steps are not going to protect the "hips" unless you happen to hit something with the steps. Can't tell from the pic but it looks like they are set back about an inch or so from the outside of the tire? This would put them inside the outer must part of the rear fender.

The shop did do a great job fabricating them up for you. How are they attached to the truck?

OP, those steps look very nice! Did you do the work yourself or did you have a shop fab those for you? On top of looking nice and protecting your hips it looks like those will allow you easier access to the bed too.

I agree the ones you made look alot nicer than any off the shelf step product I have ever seen. The off the shelf products usually look so gawdy.

I'm a big fan of simplicity, practicality, functionality, form follows function and no unnecessary ginger bread. Your home made steps embody all of those ideals perfectly.

Got the truck off the lot, so took what was there. Had a chance to get long running boards just taken off a mega cab, but like the swept back look and practicality of these. My welding shop "done good".

What do they whistle when you drive down the road? JK didn't know you couldn't get the wheel to wheel on the dually.

Probly cause the steps would be too noisy..

Nice job! I see you ordered the factor cab steps, why didn't you order the wheel to wheel steeps?

As for the trailer if you contact a barrel or cone it should move it out of the way. A gate is likely to come bouncing back and cause more damage.

RAM does noise make a wheel to wheel running board for the Dually.

3/8 steel. Maybe they'll bounce off.

Might keep some of those little cars from getting too close as well... thinking of adding some kind of lights.

Nice step/ fender protector, but if the bubble but hits the barrels the trailer would also likely hit.
