Super Cab vs Crew Cab

We went to the car show and realized that CC offers insane amount of rear space (we are both very short), probably wasting payload capacity. How much room does Super Cabs have? In the pictures, they look tiny but can adults sit behind you if a 5'5" person is driving in front?

I'll probably visit a dealer as well. Hopefully they have one in stock.

The middle back rest flips down to create arm rests and drink holders for passengers on each side. Between the front seats are plugs and adapters near the floor.



So, if I'm going to show off, well .... here's one you might enjoy!

Nah. I get what I want, and use. By the time I'm done. It ain't worth much anyway. I don't trade trucks just to be trading. In fact. At my age, and the condition of my truck. It will probably be the last truck I buy. In truth none of the new ones look any better, ride any better, or would tow my TT any better, or get better MPG. I guess you could say. I have the best truck possible for me. If people would just stop trying to buy it off me.

That bed issue has been changed with new trucks. You can get either the 6.5 bed or the 5.6 bed with the CC. The GMT900's that was the deal.

Interesting discussion on resale values. Different philosophies I guess. I buy and sell equipment all the time, I am an end user not a dealer, not just pickups but large trucks and yellow iron. I do buy with resale in mind, it may not be the biggest factor but always a consideration. Unless it never leaves your hands after you buy it really should be a consideration if you want to get the most out of your asset. But each situation is independent of the others so there are no hard and fast rules, way to many variables at play.

I traded my 04 CC for an ext cab because I need more bed space than people space. In the half ton trucks if you get a CC you get a 5'6" bed which isn't that big.

Mostly it's DW & me and the extended cab works out well for us. She has two car seats in the back seat of her car (grandkids) so in a pinch we take 3 people in the F150.
Actually, if I had my way I'd take out the rear seats, put a plywood floor over the seat frames, and add a storage shelf on top of it. Right now I have a plastic storage bin with a 12V compressor, tow strap, cable lock, ratchet straps, and bunji cords in it.

Good point. Buy the right tool for what you need, not what someone else needs.. If it was the other way round would one buy a sc because of resale value & ignore the fact that you have 3 kids and a wife that need to ride along comfortably?

I never understood the reason behind people being concerned about the "resale value" of vehicle before they even purchased the new vehicle. Of course I don't trade vehicles every couple of years.

But when purchasing new, I buy and enjoy what I want, and don't worry about how valuable it may or may not be to the next owner 6 or 8 years down the road. Sometimes a higher resale value is only there because the initial cost was also higher. So it's becomes a wash.

Just so y'all will know. In 2004 SuperCab rear seats grew by more than half. they are no more the tiny rear seat of the 2003, and older.

Here is the F150 seat specs.

......................SuperCab................SuperCrew

Shoulder room.........65.8in....................65.9in

Head Room.............40.3in....................65.9in

Hip Room..............64.7in....................64.7in

Leg Room..............33.5in....................43.6in

So the only real difference is the Leg room. Judging just by my truck. Unless the rear passenger is really tall. There is enough room for a trip to town. And for short people like my family. There is plenty of room, even with 2 car seats back there .

But again. the real downside is opening the rear doors in parking lots.

As for the resale value. My truck is 13 years old, and I have no plans to replace it. So the resale value means nothing to me really. however. I have been offered some pretty good money for it, Because it is in such good shape.

Spent a few hour trips in an 02 f250 super cab. It was tolerable. Not the most comfortable. Super can seats are also not very comfortable. One thing on this topic I heard the other day I thought was interesting is that resale value on a crew cab is much better compared to super cab. Just something to think about.

I would not advocate buying the right pickup for the next guy, but unless you are going to drive the wheels off of it, being a CC makes it easier to resell. So if you are in a toss up situation between the two than go CC. If you have a specific reason for SC than go that way. I am in need of another business pickup and all being equal it will be a SC. So it is not like there are not reasons for a SC, but having owned both since they first came out, the CC is more versatile and when it comes time to sell or trade, it is much easier to sell the CC, no doubt about that.

Super Cabs (I always knew them as club cabs) were great compared to just the regular cab. I didn't know they made them any more, but I haven't been looking at a new truck since I got my 2005 crew cab.

If all you're going to do is taking another couple out to dinner from the RV park, the the club cab would probably work - depends on how much hassle it is to get in and out of it. It won't be near as easy as opening a rear door for either people or just to put groceries in. I think it won't hold up as well on resale value either.

I'd go with the crew cab.

Can't believe it's a question. You can look at any car dealer or truck in any parking lot you see to see the size difference!
Neighbor, buddy, guy at the gas station at the pump next to you have a pickup? Hard to believe you've never seen/noticed that crew cab back seats are about 2x as big as ext cab.
Thought at one point you wanted to use the back seat as a remote mobile office. Maybe that was last week's wish, lol
You said you're short, but unless you're midgets, that won't work in an ext cab back seat.
