The "Walking TC"

First off, the appropriate music for this topic:

I'm Walkin' -Fats Domino

Aerosmith- Walk This Way

Johnny Cash- I Walk the Line

Now that we are in the right mood, here is the article in today's TC Magazine: The Walking Truck Camper

Think of the possibilities: Self-loading, self-parking tucked away in the corner of your yard, getting to that ideal spot up on a hill in the backwoods where your tuck cannot go.

Neat concept it is... wonder if it could become a mass produced reality?

It's probably not the dumbest thing I've seen but, it makes the top ten.

I'd be willing to bet Wilbur and Orville heard similar comments.

I think it's a clever project for a student. I don't see much in the way of consumer applications but imagine a TC manufacturer that could use this to move inventory around in the yard without the need to back a pickup under each camper they want to move, not to mention the need to leave space between campers to make room for said pickup. The biggest problem I have with it is it appears it can only walk in a straight line.

Agree. Has a million things that can go wrong with it

I used to build stuff like this in elementary school with my Erector set. That design does not allow for turning or uneven ground. NASA and some of the college robotics labs could really make something interesting. I’ve also seen some secondary school robotics that were more advanced in STEM focused projects.

Although heavy, it could be the basis for a moveable home on Mars, Moon etc. Little gravity.

Construction of light materials is all that is needed.

Just think how stupid a majority of inventors were viewed by the population.

burningman- don't be so hard on yourself. Inventors, geniuses and out-of-the-box thinkers are a rare breed belonging to a small crowd that others do not understand.

This is a super cool engineering project.
Guys like this who invent and innovate and have real abilities are what’s right with the world.
Guys with attitudes like yours are what’s wrong with the world.
I’m getting ashamed to even be a member of this crowd.

It's a novel idea but not something I would want, first cutting and grinding with short sleeves and no gloves had me worried.

I wonder what it weighed and if it would work with out a power source ? (I watched it with no sound)

Xiao is offering her sculpture to anyone in the truck camper community who wants it. All you need to do is contact Xiao and pick it up. The sculpture is located in Victoria, British Columbia.

No takers yet?

In the year 2043 you see what appears to be a travel trailer coming towards you, but there’s no truck pulling it. The trailer is literally moving down the highway on its own.

Wouldn't that be called a motorhome, and don't we already have those now?

Key words in this project are " looking for funding"....the only thing this walking camper will do is give the designer a free ride!!!
