They will steal anything

You would think all you have to worry about with 30 ft TT is break in's. You do not have a big enough lock on tongue. I had the big Gorilla Guard lock on mine but the bad guys must have really wanted my unit. I still have lock, but no camper. I have suggested to all who I meet to remove wheels from one side of camper. Apparently this is only thing that will stop some people.
Never recovered.

If you remove the battery the brakes will not work.

One thing I do is, pull the emergency stop after I remove the batteries,Then before I hook up I reset is,, That way if they attempt to steal it from storage,, someone is going to hear it!!!

I would like to see an alarm that automatically sends a full charge to the brake wires for about 5 minutes, after about 10 minutes from the time the alarm goes off. Then have it charge the brake lines every 10 minutes thereafter (for 5 minutes) until it is reset. The alarm could allow the brakes to be gradually applied (along with the brake lights) so as not to cause an accident. It would be easy to find the stolen trailer that is stuck in the middle of the road. LOL

The cops would have to stop and check out the trailer parked in the middle of the road. LOL

I disconnect the battery anyway, but wouldn't the brakes lockup when they plugged in the trailer lights? (Assuming they plug in the lights, but if they don't plug in the lights it increases the odds of them getting pulled over).

What about pulling out the breakaway cable? It would have to be a pretty thorough thief to think to bring a spare.

I agree w/YnotTurbo. However, someone tried to breakin in mine in NM on I 40 last week. My friend says the deadbolt latches are nearly impossible to break. Lock would not work so had grandson crawl in , no luck, 13 yr old granddaughter tried. Had to drive 50 mi 1 way for new latch and have son crawl thru emergency exit. He got the screws out but the latch would'nt come out so I got in with a balpeen hammer. Boy, Arctic Fox doors are solid laminated fiberglas and the latch came out. Cost, 1 nite motel in Shamrock TX, $64, Latch $34, RT to get it $20. BTW/The motel smelled like someone dumped a quart of perfume on the floor.

This is one thing that scares me about storing mine at the beach. I've watched people pack up and roll out in the car and leave the camper on the site. In high traffic campgrounds like Ocean Lakes, anyone with a truck could swoop in, grab one and go. It could happen right beside you and you probably wouldn't know.

I have a small (teardrop) and use a lock on the hitch and a cable around the tires just to slow them down or maybe make them look elsewhere. But what I didn't think about it someone could pull up next to my trailer in parking lot and pull the tow bar out and walk it over to their vehicle if it has the same size. Now I gotta get that locked down.

Like others have said, I'm way more worried about someone breaking into my house while I am gone. I park mine in my driveway so it is completely obvious when I am gone. Plus my area isn't the greatest. I'm worried every time I leave.

That being said, my neighbors are close and I have an alarm system. I'm still not totally confident though. A camper can be replaced, while personal items that may get stolen are irreplaceable to me.

I'm not sure what else to do though. It's easy easier to leave it in my driveway.

I'm more concerned about people robbing my house when I'm out with the TT, because it is fairly obvious when the TT isn't there (sits right next to house). Although we have 4 cars and rotate them around, especially when the TT is out. The lots in my subdivision are only 1/4 acre, so we are pretty close to our neighbors. It would be tough for someone to steal my TT without someone seeing them, especially if they had to bang on a lock for a while.

I hate losing personal items... you have my sympathy.

On a side note, I'm very lucky to live and camp where I do. I don't have any locks, and I don't often lock the trailer when camping. We lose small things around here to thieves (usually teens) like bikes and tools. When I lived in the city, many things were stolen from me over the years.

Odd to see you come back 5 months later and add another post, that, well, seems odd.

Any reports on anything?
