Turned away,told me they dont accept truck campers

I posted something similar on the Lance forum about this. I was turned away at Bay Bayou RV Resort Tampa , Fl. They said no truck campers per management. Looking out their office window I could see several $5000.00 travel trailers and a few worn out class C"s and some newer class A"s . I guess a $100k plus truck /camper combo doesn't meet their requirement for RV"s. Do any of you experience this a lot ? Should I mention that I have a truck camper from now on, even if they don't ask when I'm making a reservation ? 2017 ram 3500and 2016 Lance 1172. Thx Chris

That's exactly right. That's what I use to do. Never had them come out and check the VIN, but your rig needs to look good and then there's no trouble.

I always confirm if there are age restrictions while making reservations.

While my trailer is brand new my truck is not so much...

If I ever run into this problem, I'll send a courteous, but poignant letter to the RV park expressing my dissapointment in their policy explaining the large investment most of us have in our rigs. I'd also point out that their community is missing out on the revenue of not only our paying the RV park fee, but also fuel purchases, grocery store and restaurant visits, ice cream shops (a must for us) and cc the letter to the local Chamber of Commerce. Lastly, also inform them we're adding them to a list of cities to avoid on an international TC forum.

Second thought, we'll just boondock like we normally do ;).

I wasn't turned away but was told I could not take the truck camper off in a Boise RV park. I rarely stay at RV parks but sometimes it is necessary and I call first.

I have a newer 5W and have found if the place has resort in it's name I don't want to go there. Most of the "resort" RV places seem to be park models and the empty spots are used for RV's .... till sold.

Harvest Host- look it up. Great way to stay somewhere other than a crowded CG.

And it is free other than maybe buying something for dinner, but that is not required.

Don't have a TC, just a TT. But once I called ahead for a reservation and was told they didn't accept rigs over 10 years old. Mine was only 7 years old and in good condition, and after telling them its age, I thanked them for alerting me to their policy and wished them well before I hung up and made my reservation elsewhere. Their place, their rules, but neither you nor I have to stay there if we find them too stuffy.

I was turned away once with my Class B RV because they insisted it wasn't an RV, it was a van conversion. Their place, their rules so I just went further down the road to another park that knew what a Class B was and stayed there.

I've had my TC in over 20 states over 13 years. I've never once run into this. If I did, I'd just move on, unless I had made a reservation. Then I might have some choice words for them taking a reservation from a "banned" RV class.
They're allowed to make their own rules. I don't begrudge them that.

Someone should write a post and then sticky it. Subject: Parks who do not accept truck campers. Then when ever one runs across this, they post their circumstances, and some whiz bang on here keeps track of it on Google maps as a layer. Ha!

Then you can see at a glance those places who don't like us!

When we took our trip out west, this year, we were glad we had a TC because we could fit into spaces that motor homes and TT's couldn't, so we always had a place to stay. :B
