And if you buy them someplace like Shock Warehouse and don't want to install them yourself, what installation option do you recommend?

Just put Bilstein 4600 HD all around...very pleased. The difference from OE is night/day.
Purchased thru shockwarehouse, installed myself.

Any adjustable shock would not last 1 season here in New England (or probably Denver either...)

Ditto; I've had them on all 3 camper hauling trucks we have owned. They are a huge improvement on an SRW truck hauling a truck camper.

I had Bilsteins on the GMC I had, much better than the stockers. On my Ford F250, it came with the Rancho 5000's. I switched the back to the 9000's and am VERY happy with them. They help with sway control as well. I've only had them on the 1st setting but they are already better than the 5000's.
I have them on my F250 with the Adventurer 89RB on it.

I switched out the shocks on my last two trucks both srw 3500's a 2008 GMC and the 2012 Ram I have now to Bilstein's. Both times a big improvement in ride even on new trucks, never have been a fan of Ranchos.

Bil-steins all the way... had ranchos as a kid. many broke at mounts etc... Ranchos are garbage IMO. Those adbjustmet knobs corrode and break off..

Bil steins came on my truck stock and I have 160K miles on them.... Still going with great ride... But may replace soon..

I prefer no shocks.. better way to go for sure. Yes, I'm serious.

Purchased Winnebago Minnie Winnie December 2011. Driving home to East Texas from Arizona had a lot of sway. Put Bilsteins on....best money I've ever spent on shocks!

You'll get a lot of answer, but for me, I have Rancho 9000's, and I like very much the fact I can adjust the valving for fully loaded vs. empty. Right now I'm empty running the rear setting at 1, which is the softest. When loaded, I run 8-9-10 just depending on my mood, and it then firms out the up/down floating.
4Wheel Parts usually has the best price, and can install if you're near one. They're pretty easy to do, don't be afraid to tackle it. I did mine, but if I needed them 2 months ago, Ida been up a creek. I threw my back out somethin fierce liftin a 105lb battery the way they always tell you to-- lift with your back and not your knees..... Oh wait, I did that backwards. Explains the OW OW OW immediately following the "pop" I heard.
