Had to work part day today, but for to use the camper as part of the job. We had to go inventory a warehouse that is unheated, and the temps have been in the teens to twentys.... So I brought the truck and camper and fired off the wave 3 and the stove top, and got out the coffee pot, and made coffee so we had a place to go warm our hands and bodies. Worked well to keep the coffee flowing, the counting going, and the job done by 1:30.

But came home and put the plow on the truck since now they are calling for 4-8 inches tonight, then tomorrow going to rain, so it will be an icy mess....

Gotta love "spring time" in Alaska!

Did a spring cleaning of the camper.
Fixed the seat trim.
Had a scare that my Fantastic Fan was broken. End up going on the roof and pushing the vent shut off switch in a few times and it stated up.
Loaded the camper and then the kayaks on the roof.
Just have to decide if I am going to take the one motorbike (and which one) on the front carrier or two with the trailer.
Hope to head out tomorrow - where undecided.

Finally found a mounting system for the neat stick ladder I want to take along without cluttering up the camper or truck cab. Had a hood rack from the Polaris Razr we had a few years ago with tool holders on it. They just fit the folded ladder, are perfect size/width for Install location secure and rubber lined to protect the ladder and keep it from moving around. Will bolt one on each side of truck bed at the front of the bed behind the back seat window and install the ladder there. Out of the way and secure for transport. Found a new old work truck for DH so as soon as its done getting spruced up and tool box installed I can load camper on the dually permanently. That is after a couple of new tires get installed and I clean it back up from being the work truck. Hopefully that will take place in the next week to be ready for trip to Texas Truck Camper Rally.

I repaired my front left TC jack. I noticed the corner had a little movement in it when the jack was lifting the camper. I took the corner bracket off and inspected the wood beneath. There was a very small amount of wood decay on the plywood but not a big deal. My S&S has a 2x3 running the length of both sides of the camper with the TC tie down eyes being attached to that. Similar to how I repaired the right side last year. I got a 2" x 16" Simpson flat metal connector that had a 90 degree bend with a 6" length to it. I cleaned out the area and used QUAD to adhere and seal the connector to the TC running along the bottom back to the tie down and up the front corner edge. I used a bottle jack and clamps to press tight and hold in position the connector so I could drill and bolt it to the TC. I also installed 2 and 2-1/2" x 5/16 SS lags instead of reusing the rusted galvanized 2" x 1/4" lags that were there. I also repaired the worn holes by injecting Gorilla expanding glue then driving a 2" x 1/4" wood dowel into the holes to restore the wood. The Gorilla glue will expand into cracked and voided areas of the wood sealing and strengthening it. The new SS lags hold perfectly and strong. I also installed a second Simpson 90 degree flat 6"x6"x1-1/2"angle bracket inside the propane compartment. The propane box is against and stapled to the framing of the TC. I also installed two 5"x3/8" bolts From the front bracket through the framing and connect the framing together with that and 2 more bolts through the same bracket down through the propane box, the plywood, and the 2"x3" . I might post a picture later if I get to it. I also re-caulked the dinette window and did some re-sealing on the right rear jack. I also installed another bolt to better support my slide out deck. It is raining hard in Seattle tonight or was earlier so I will inspect the fruits of my labor tomorrow.

I love my PSW 2.0 (2000 watt)

Where is yours mounted? (In the trailer I'm guessing?)

D
Yes. It is located approximately 24 inches from the battery bank in the trailer. My second inverter is located within 20 inches of the battery bank (in a separate cabinet) in my truck camper.

Was installing some 12 volt (usb) power points in my Chalet TS-116 camper...as I removed a panel on my kitchen slide out, I found that the sink drain had broken off (again). This is a flexable pipe that attaches to a hard PVC pipe on the floor. Now....what to do? I called Chalet RV in Albany, Oregon...let's see if the can resolve this problem....new owners for this company.

Swapped out my FWC Battery Bank today.

After 5 years, and more than 1,825 cycles, it was time to swap out my GC2 Battery Bank 2. The winters and many nights below zero certainly take a toll on them. This winter and 2013, was extremely hard and cold. As does the extreme heat these batteries exist in, as they store my daily solar harvest. So, after a few weeks in Death Valley, out with the old and in with some equally shiny and fresh batteries. I expect another good 5 years, if not more cycles. Maybe 2,000 cycles?

10 new batteries!!! There goes the new bike!!

Not so fast, DJ. Adding another bike to the team is still in the plan. Just later this year. Probably in time for the winter desert riding. I had always budgeted the battery swap. I had hoped for getting 2,100 cycles out of the bank. But the alternative is not a pretty picture. The piggy bank is a bit smaller, but not as bad as if I had gone AGM for Bank #2.

Enjoy your spring and stay safe!
