Just checked for full hookups for May, 2017.
. Camper Village is not accepting reservations, only walk ins
. Trailer Village is booked solid throughout May.
What are next best full hookup locations to see South Rim for several days in May?
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you can dry camp, Ten X forest service campground is wonderful and just past the airport nearby to the park. $5 a night with the old foggy discount. The campground hosts will help you select a site and if it is full, give you directions to legal boondocking areas. Only about 4 miles to the South Rim.

If you choose Mather, there's a 30' max length

It would be helpful on your posts if you would create a signature line with the size and type of RV you have.

If you have a smaller RV, Mather or Desert View campgrounds in the park are very nice if you can do without hookups.

Since you said Camper Village in Tusayan is only accepting walk-ins, I'd try for that if you can stay in the Flagstaff area the previous night so you could drive to Camper Village in the morning when you could probably get a site when folks are leaving.

In the meantime, keep trying Trailer Village in the park itself as it is definitely the best place to stay. There are always cancellations. The free shuttle stops there and it's even walking distance to the canyon rim.

Otherwise, Williams is the closest you'll be able to find a RV park and that's 50 miles away.

Grand Canyon Campervillage is located just outside the Park in Tusayan, AZ. This is about as close as you can get.

While staying there be sure to visit the IMAX theater for a showing of the Grand Canyon movie.

I would even suggest seeing the movie before entering the Park. This will give you a good perspective of the Park.
