Folks, please stop panicking over things found on Faux News. Everything there has been carefully spun to throw you into a rage. Go to the source to get information that is actually useful. Your blood pressure will thank you for turning Faux News off.

I discovered the most informative news when I saw 'Danny Deck Chair'

Great way to escape all the controversy today as a lot of work went into this movie. It starts with a guy who wants to go camping flying out on a fuel guzzling commercial flight.

Oh it has already been under strict enforcement for a year now. Many have paid the ultimate price. The mask is for you to avoid enforcement along with the people you interact with.

My common sense tells me that all masks, short of the N-95, are useless because they don't stop any virus from passing through the material and they don't seal tightly around the nose and mouth to contain the virus. Screen doors on a submarine or a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes come to mind. I am all for proven methods to stop this virus but wearing a mask has not been proven to do anything positive other than being a feel-good method.

I have not seen one scientific mask study favoring masks. I have seen one scientific study saying masks aren't effective (Denmark study). Wearing a mask to beat Covid is pure symbolism, like wearing a colored ribbon on your coat to fight a disease.

We should all want to use common sense and follow the CDC guidelines, and wear a mask when needed to keep ourselves and others safe, instead of looking to the letter of the law about whether one is needed while camping. The faster we get through this pandemic the sooner we can forget about wearing a mask.

I found this article that discusses the mask mandate as it relates to Federal lands.
Mask mandate on Federal lands

It said things may vary from one location to another.

The article only restates what the order says. And calling it a Mandate vs a suggestion is be coming. in line with what its authors called it. The order doesn't differentiate where it does or does not apply.
AS I said, it was written by cubicle dwellers, with no thought or understanding of any other type or kind of lifestyle. And this was on day one, more "one size fits all" decrees will be coming.
I just bought a small A, I just want to be able to use it, somewhere other than my driveway.

What federal mandate to wear a mask?

Section 1 of the Executive Order, says:

"Accordingly, to protect the Federal workforce and individuals interacting with the Federal workforce, and to ensure the continuity of Government services and activities, on-duty or on-site Federal employees, on-site Federal contractors, and other individuals in Federal buildings and on Federal lands should all wear masks, maintain physical distance, and adhere to other public health measures, as provided in CDC guidelines."

Notice it says SHOULD ALL WEAR MASKS, which is not a mandate, it's a suggestion. It tells me it is still my choice to wear a mask and you can't enforce a SHOULD. And to previous posts note it is the "CDC Guidelines". Guidelines are suggestions not law.

Note that it says SHOULD wear masks, doesn't say MUST wear masks.

What is quoted above does not read like a mandate. Reads like a suggestion.

Why link to a news article at a source that's not known for its balanced reporting, when you can link to the actual source:

Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing

Here's the policy from that EO:

Accordingly, to protect the Federal workforce and individuals interacting with the Federal workforce, and to ensure the continuity of Government services and activities, on-duty or on-site Federal employees, on-site Federal contractors, and other individuals in Federal buildings and on Federal lands should all wear masks, maintain physical distance, and adhere to other public health measures, as provided in CDC guidelines.

The key phrase here is "as provided in CDC guidelines".

If you're not already familiar with the CDC mask and social distancing guidelines, you should be, and you should already be following them, whether legally obligated or not to help protect your fellow travelers.

In short, those guidelines when outdoors is: stay socially distance as much as possible, if you have to be near people form outside your household, wear a mask if within 6 feet.

I don't see how this new mask mandate will have a significant effect on boondocking if you're truly out in the wilderness with no one around but your own household.
