Santa Fe/Taos RV Park Recommendation

Hello fellow RVers,
We are planning a trip to NM in Sept. and need a recommendation for a RV Park between Santa Fe and Taos. We would like to stay in one place to visit both cities. Possibly 5-6 days total time. Is that possible?
We have a 31' FW. No pets on this trip. Thanks so much for your replies.

Personally, I think Santa Fe has more to offer than Taos. It's definitely worth going to Taos but I's stay in Santa Fe and do a day trip. You can spend many days in Santa Fe and there always seems to be a festival going on and there are lots of museums and shopping. Drive up to the ski area and do some hiking; attend a concert; drive south down the back side of Sandia Peak - awesome views. Drive to Bandelier Nat'l Monument or Cochiti Lake and walk through nearby Tent Rocks.

You can easily spend a week or two in the area. Have fun!

Sierra Village, east of Taos is an older park but it's the only one with shade. Pretty scenic if a little run down.

Yes, Santa Fe Skies is #1. We enjoy Santa Fe that we try to get there every year. Great food, beer (Santa Fe Brewing Co is near Santa Fe Skies!), art, golf, hiking, farmer's market--well we do really like it and hope you will too! Great advice by other RVers.

Yep... We stay there a couple times a year usually as a first night out or last night in when snowbirding. We've been traveling to Santa Fe area since about 1985. Mostly we go to get the green and red chili burn and enjoy the culture. We especially like Santa Fe Skies since it is PV solar. Nice paths for walking dogs and looking at all kinds of amazing old engines and maintenance equipment. Some really old, like 100 year old stationary engines. Also has a fenced dog area. Very convenient to old town, Wally Mart, I25, and Santa Fe relief route if coming in from Espanola.

Do you need full hookups with your rig? That would make a difference. We really enjoyed the Orilla Verde Rec Area...it's BLM land along the Rio Grande river. They have 7 different campgrounds to choose from but no sewers. That said, you'll most likely want to stay at your site and enjoy the area rather than go visit the towns...:W.....Dennis

One possibility is Riana Campground on Abiquiu Lake, an Army COE property with electric hookups, showers, big sites, seniors pay 50%. Scenic area where Georgia O'Keefe painted. Probably an hour or so away from both cities.

We stayed in all three places, plenty to enjoy. I liked Taos Monte Bello RV Park, plenty of room for bigger rigs than ours.

We live in Los Alamos, NM about the same distance to Taos as Santa Fe. For us Taos is a day trip.

I would stay in Santa Fe at Santa Skies RV Park. Easy access to Santa Fe and you can take the NM599 bypass to go North to Taos. About a 2 hour drive. Take the high road one way and NM68 on the way back.

There is the Roadrunner RV Parks in Pojoaque, but it is really just an open lot next to the highway.

If you are going to spend multiple days in each place, then it would be easier to stay in Santa Fe and then go to Taos. But I don't know the RV parks in Taos.
